My very first cruise on the Genting Dream 🛳️! Fresh off the ship, here’s the latest guide for a 3D2N route: Singapore → Malacca → Singapore.
🧳 Luggage
As long as your luggage isn’t too big, you can carry it onboard yourself. Highly recommended! While the ship does provide a luggage delivery service, you’ll get your bags much later. Carrying them yourself is way more convenient.
⛴️ Boarding
Older guides say you might board as early as 2–3 p.m., but now the official check-in time is 4 p.m. and boarding starts at 5 p.m. sharp. So don’t bother arriving too early.
That said, you should still arrive a bit earlier to line up—there are sooo many people. The earlier you check in, the earlier you can board, and that means an earlier dinner 🍽️. Otherwise, be prepared for long queues.
🛏️ Rooms
I booked a balcony cabin. Here’s what comes with it:
One welcome drink per person, redeemable at any bar/restaurant. 🍹
$60 credit per person, which you can use for drinks, souvenirs, or onboard Wi-Fi.
🎉 Activities
The ship has fun facilities like water slides and rock climbing 🧗—but note, they’re not open all day. Check the opening hours via the ship’s QR code (all info is there) or on your cabin TV.
At night, there are two stage shows daily in the theatre on Deck 7 🎭.
🏝️ Malacca
Balcony cabin guests can disembark earlier. The last shuttle back is at 6:30 p.m..
Getting to Malacca is super easy: just a 10–15 min tender boat ride to the pier, and from there it’s only a 5–10 min walk to Jonker Street. Perfect for exploring if you find yourself bored on the ship!
🍜 Food
The complimentary restaurants are actually really good—big portions and tasty.
Most recommended: Dream Dining Room (Lower) on Deck 7, which serves Chinese cuisine. Honestly the best food onboard in my opinion 😋.
Breakfast: Go for The Lido on Deck 16—the biggest buffet with plenty of Indian dishes.
Tip: Try to eat outside of peak hours, otherwise you’ll run into long lines.
