Origin of Singapore Sling

Have you heard about the history of Singapore Sling? I personally find it pretty interesting and makes me appreciate the drink more.


It was a cocktail created at Raffles Hotel when ladies were not allow to consume alcohol in public. This rosy color cocktail that contains pineapple and lime juice is meant as a camouflage, allowing ladies to drink in public without being obvious.


Long Bar @ Raffles Hotel serves many drinks and personally we love the Singapore Sling (on the sweeter side) and Raffles 1915 Gin Sling (more refreshing). It is definitely a place to visit because it is the only place where you can throw your peanut shells on the floor. Indeed an unique experience to call for!
