Sintra feels like stepping into a storybook. Nestled in the Sintra Mountains, this charming town is wrapped in misty forests, sprinkled with whimsical palaces, and bursting with romantic 19th-century architecture. The vibrant colors of Pena Palace, the mystical gardens of Quinta da Regaleira, and the cobblestone charm of the old town all add to its dreamy vibe.
Imagine winding lanes, ivy-draped villas, and the scent of fresh pastries from local cafes – Sintra is nothing short of enchanting.
How to Reach Quinta da Regaleira from Entrecampos (Lisbon):
1) Start at Entrecampos Station (Lisbon)
Head to Entrecampos train station, which is conveniently connected to Lisbon’s metro system.
Make sure to buy a train ticket to Sintra (you can get one at the ticket machines or counter). Cost is around €2.30–€3.00 one way with the Viva Viagem card.
2) Take the Train to Sintra
Board the Sintra Line (Linha de Sintra) towards Sintra station.
The journey takes about 45–50 minutes, and trains run frequently (every 20–30 minutes).
Grab a window seat – the ride becomes more scenic as you get closer to the hills!
3) Arrive at Sintra Train Station
Once you arrive at Sintra, take a moment to soak in the fresh air and charming atmosphere.
From here, Quinta da Regaleira is about 1.2 km away – you can either walk (about 15–20 minutes uphill) or take a local tuk-tuk or taxi if you prefer a scenic ride.
4) Walk to Quinta da Regaleira
If you decide to walk, follow signs to the historic center and then towards Quinta da Regaleira.
The walk is beautiful – old mansions, lush greenery, and that fairytale fog floating through the trees.
On the way, stop for a travesseiro (a sweet puff pastry Sintra is famous for).
5) Arrive at Quinta da Regaleira
Get ready to explore hidden tunnels, mystical wells, and magical gardens.
Don’t miss the Initiation Well – it’s like something straight out of an ancient legend.
