We set off from the hotel at three in the morning. The tour guide said that there were as many as 1,000 jeeps that day, parked all over the hillside. Red, blue, yellow, jeeps of various colors were arranged in an interlaced manner. The scene was spectacular and lively, as if we had entered another world.
The jeep can only be parked halfway up the mountain, and then you need to climb on foot. There are horse rides along the way (the cost is about 1 million Indonesian rupiah), but you still have to climb the last section of stairs by yourself. When we arrived at the top of the mountain, it was already crowded with people waiting for the sunrise. Everyone took turns finding a seat and quietly watched the sky gradually brighten.
The first ray of sunlight shines on the magnificent volcanoes, surrounded by mist, it is extremely dreamy! What was even more shocking was that we actually witnessed the eruption of Mount Semeru with our own eyes. Thick smoke billowed into the sky and screams were heard at the scene. This scene was shocking and it was definitely an unforgettable moment in a lifetime.
Although this journey is cold, difficult, and requires a long wait, when you stand on the top of the mountain, watch the sun shine on the volcano, and witness the majestic aura of the volcano with your own eyes, all the hard work becomes worth it.
