Suzhou Travel | Shanghai Workers Rush to This Island, 2h Direct Access

Suzhou is adjacent to Shanghai, and to get a taste of the sticky rice, I often find myself heading to Suzhou for no particular reason. Having visited all the major and minor attractions, I finally discovered this lesser-known island~

📍 Manshan Island, Wuzhong District, Suzhou City
【Recommended Reasons】
1. Very few tourists
Not many people know about this place; I went there specifically to photograph the lighthouse and was the only one there!
2. Not commercialized
This small island still retains its original ecology, and if you venture deeper into the island, you can see the vegetable fields of the local residents. The downside is that there are not many good restaurants and entertainment facilities.
3. Suitable for family trips
There is a bird library on Manshan Island, which was transformed from the 'Wuxian Taihu Manshan Primary School.' It is said that over 120 species of birds have been discovered on the island, hence the establishment of this library. There are many bird picture books and specimens inside, which can be interesting for children to see~
4. Natural and primitive scenery
The home of Wang Yuyan in Jin Yong's novels, 'Manduo Manor,' was modeled after Manshan Island, and the undeveloped scenery of Manshan Island has also earned it the nickname 'Paradise in Taihu Lake.' There is a sunset pier on the island, and I highly recommend coming here to watch the sunset~

📷 Must-Visit Spots
✔️ The super mini lighthouse at Manshan Pier
✔️ Bird Library
✔️ Cat Cafe in the morning and evening

🚗 Transportation
Drive to 'Manshan Ferry Pier,' where there is a parking lot.
Purchase a round-trip boat ticket for 60 yuan per person to get to the island.

🍽️ Food
✔️ Jianmian Noodle House: There are not many restaurants on the island, but this one is quite cost-effective

🏠 Accommodation
There are homestays on the island, but the island is truly small, and half a day is enough to wander and take photos, so I suggest staying back in the urban area of Suzhou.
