Chikan Tower

Chikan Tower, an ancient fortress originally built by the Dutch in 1653 during their occupation of Taiwan, has a rich history. It was destroyed by rebellions and earthquakes in the 18th century but was rebuilt during the Qing Dynasty and has undergone continuous minor restorations since then. During my visit, restoration work was still ongoing. The entrance fee is 70 NT. Inside the fortress, there are historical exhibits and old maps, and the structure resembles a shrine. Outside, there is a garden with a fish pond, making it a pleasant place to stroll around. Since it is located in the city and easily accessible, I highly recommend visiting Chikan Tower if you're in Tainan.
