🔥Tainan City Fire Museum: Exhibition and education center for firefighting history🚒

The Tainan City Fire Museum, located in the West Central District of Tainan City, Taiwan, is Taiwan's first museum dedicated to the history of firefighting. Housed within the former Tainan Joint Government Office building, it is a designated municipal monument. The museum's predecessor was the Tainan Joint Government Office, built during the Japanese colonial period. A central tower was constructed in 1930 to celebrate the enthronement of Emperor Showa. In 1937, it was expanded into a joint office building, housing the Fire Department Interrogation Office, the Police Hall, and the Nishiki-cho Police Station. It was designated a municipal monument in 1998. In 2009, the Tainan City Fire Department began renovations and was converted into a Fire Museum. The museum officially opened in 2015, showcasing the history of firefighting in Tainan and related artifacts, serving as both an educational and tourist attraction.
The Fire Museum is divided into several exhibition areas, including a firefighting history exhibition room, an old fire truck display area, and a disaster prevention education area. Displays include historical materials from Tainan's first volunteer fire brigade in 1919, early firefighting tools, and a restored fire station environment. The museum preserves the 1930s fire watchtower and the statue of Sumiyoshi Hidematsu, as well as a VR firefighting simulation experience, making it suitable for families or those interested in firefighting. Winter weather is cool, so a light jacket is recommended. Rest areas and guided tours are available, but some activities may require reservations, so please confirm in advance.
