A newly developed industrial city is an important industrial base in Fujian Province.
The industrial elements that can be seen everywhere on the city streets have become a highlight here;
The urban area is generally distributed along Shaxi River and is surrounded by mountains. It is a typical valley basin city.
It is recommended that tourists take Shaxi as the axis and use the multiple cross-river bridges to plan their travel routes.

*The organizational history of Sanyuan District (since modern times): Sanyuan District was originally divided into Shaxian County, Yongan, and Mingxi; Sanyuan Special Zone was established in 1939; Sanyuan County was established in 1940;
In 1956, it merged with Mingxi to form Sanming County;
From January 1960 to April 1963, it was Sanming City, the third provincial municipality in Fujian Province;
In 1983, Sanming was established as a city (prefecture level) again, with Sanyuan and Meilie districts;
In 2021, Sanyuan and Meili will be merged into Sanyuan District.
