Taipei’s Famous Public Square 🛕✨

Liberty Square is home to The National Theater & Concert Hall and The Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial. Located in Zhongzeng district, the square has been the main gathering spot since 1970. At that time, martial one party rule prevailed in Taiwan. The memorial became an attraction after the death of Chiang Kai-Shek who relocated to Taiwan after the Chinese civil war. The National Theater and Concert Hall is among the first facilities for modern art performance to be established in Asia. Each year, international or local artists are known to host events at the hall.

I arrived there in the late afternoon and unexpectedly witnessed the flag-lowering ceremony which started at about 5pm. Liberty Square is huge and gets busy in the afternoon. It’s such a nice and well-maintained place. A must visit! The Hall was closed, but I could walk up the stairs of The Memorial to have a look around.

🔵Access to Liberty square is free.

How to go ➡️ Take the MRT 🚇(Songshan-Xindian line OR Tamsui-Xinyi line)to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall station. The square is a 5 mins walk from the station.
