This time, on a sunny afternoon in Taipei, I chose a slightly warm but perfectly sunny moment to visit the botanical garden. It’s less than a ten-minute walk from Xiaonanmen MRT Station to enter a world of different temperatures. The lotus flowers in the pond were in full bloom, and as the breeze passed by, there was a hint of summer heat, but the whole atmosphere felt serene.
📍 Taipei Botanical Garden (No. 53, Nanhai Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei)
Established during the Japanese colonial period, it is one of Taiwan's oldest botanical gardens. The garden houses over 2,000 plant species, with clearly defined zones including tropical plants, herbal areas, arboretums, and the summer favorite—the Lotus Pond.
📍 Summer Highlights
.Lotus Pond: Blooms typically peak from June to July, with mornings being the most beautiful, showcasing white or pink blossoms.
🚇 Transportation
.Take Taipei MRT to "Xiaonanmen Station" and walk about 5–7 minutes from Exit 3.
.Alternatively, walk about 10–15 minutes from "Ximen Station" or "Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Station."
.Admission is free, and the garden is open daily from 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM.
🫀 Personal Experience
I arrived around 9 AM when the weather wasn’t unbearably hot yet, but you could already feel the weight of summer. Walking along the wooden boardwalk to the Lotus Pond was truly stunning. The lotus leaves covered the entire water surface, with white and pink flowers standing gracefully above them. The sunlight filtering through the petals created a dreamy scene.
