Taipei's most popular observation deck!

A couple of days ago, I saw someone on Instagram recommending the Breeze Platform on Jiantan Mountain for its stunning night views.

While the night view is indeed beautiful, I wouldn't recommend it to everyone.

If you could drive directly to the platform, it would be fine. However, the issue is that you have to park your car in the parking lot and hike for 10-15 minutes to reach the platform. This is where the problems arise.

There are three major concerns:

First, if your night vision isn't good, you should avoid going.

Although there are streetlights along the way, they are sparse.

If your night vision is poor, make sure to bring a flashlight or ensure your phone has enough battery to use its flashlight feature for a safe ascent and descent.

Second, the trails on Jiantan Mountain are complex and intertwined. If you're unfamiliar with the area, avoid hiking in the evening.

There are multiple trails on Jiantan Mountain, and at least four routes lead to the Breeze Platform. If you're unfamiliar with the area and have poor night vision, you might end up feeling scared and disoriented.

Third, some of the wooden walkways are loose, and certain wooden railings are damaged, with large holes exposed.

Imagine this: poor night vision, no flashlight, and accidentally stepping on a loose plank or losing your footing—it's easy to get injured.

Therefore, I wouldn't recommend visiting the Breeze Platform at night unless you're as familiar with Jiantan Mountain as I am, having been there countless times. Only then would I suggest making the trip.
