Taitung｜The beautiful scenery where mountains, rocks, streams, and the sea meet (Donghe Bridge Recreation Area)

Besides the Donghe steamed buns, there's another overlooked attraction in Taitung's Donghe River: the Donghe Bridge Recreation Area. This is where the Mawuku Creek flows into the Pacific Ocean. The river and waves intertwine beneath the bridge, creating a gradation of clear and azure colors that's so beautiful it'll make you forget time.

Walk across the old Donghe Bridge and feel the gentle breeze as the sun gleams on the pebble beach below. At low tide, stroll along the riverbank to watch seagulls circling and waves crashing against the rocky shore. At high tide, you can hear the symphony of waves and stream. This uncrowded area is perfect for quiet viewing, taking photos, or even relaxing on the shore with a picnic mat.

If you have more time, a visit to the Jinzun Observation Deck or Donghe Fishing Harbor would complete this coastal highway journey. The Donghe Bridge is more than just a major transportation hub; it's a romantic meeting point between mountain and sea.
