The top of the island is long and flat, with steep edges, like a giant roof (the kind of trapezoidal roof that children draw when graffiti), hence the name.
You don't need to take a boat to get to Yashima. Take the train from Takamatsu Chikko Station, transfer to the Shido Line at Kawaramachi Station, and get off at Kotoden Yashima Station. The journey takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Opposite the station is the bus stop to the top of the mountain, which takes about 20 minutes. After getting off the bus, you can start the tour without paying.
We came here to watch the sunset, and since we still had time, we wandered around. The top of the mountain is full of ancient buildings and temples.
As the sky began to change color, we quickly walked to the Lion-no-Reiwa Observatory. Here, the view is very wide, you can see the Seto Inland Sea and the surrounding islands, Takamatsu City is in sight, coupled with the sunset, it is very beautiful! Seeing this beautiful scenery, it is worth spending more time on transportation!
Kind tips:
1. From Monday to Thursday, the last bus will leave before 5 o'clock, so friends who travel independently should pay special attention to this time, as they may have to leave before sunset. There will be extra buses at night on Fridays, Saturdays and before public holidays, so you can enjoy not only the sunset but also the night view. Before departure, it is strongly recommended that you go online or visit a tourist center to obtain bus and train timetables and make detailed plans.
2. Near the observatory, there is a beautiful large glass corridor with a restaurant and some free exhibitions. You can go in and take a look.
