"Sojiin"
After passing through the Sanmon gate of the head temple, Nakayama-dera, you'll find "Sojiin" on your left, dedicated to the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva. The temple enshrines the Five Great Powers of Fudo Myo-o, the principal deity for household safety and protection from misfortune, the principal deity for those born in the Year of the Rooster, "Manjusri Bodhisattva" for academics and those born in the Year of the Rabbit, "Kishimojin-sama" for prayers for mothers and children, "Amida Nyorai" for ancestor memorial services, and "Mizuko Jizo" for memorial services for unborn children.

"Hozoin"
The second temple on your left after passing through the Sanmon gate is Hozoin.
This sub-temple enshrines "Mahavairocana Buddha" and "Benzaiten," the guardian deities of the Year of the Sheep and Monkey.
They are said to bring wealth, wisdom, and protection from misfortune.

Kannon-in Temple
Kannon-in Temple is the third temple on the left after passing through Nakayama-dera's Sanmon Gate.
This sub-temple enshrines Fugen Bodhisattva and Daikokuten, the guardian deities of the Years of the Dragon and Snake.
Prayers are offered for warding off worms, preventing nighttime crying, and promoting good health.

Kezo-in Temple
Kezo-in Temple is on the right after passing through the Sanmon Gate.
This sub-temple enshrines Amida Buddha and Bishamonten, the guardian deities of the Years of the Dog and Pig.
Prayers are accepted for all kinds of purposes, including warding off evil spirits, traffic safety, business prosperity, and shrine visits. They also offer prayers for ancestors and stillborn babies, as well as for animals.
In particular, the Jizo statue of stillborn babies enshrined at Nakayama-dera Temple, the oldest in Nakayama-dera, is visited by a constant stream of visitors, offering flowers and praying to its historic appearance.

"Jojuin"
After passing through the Sanmon gate, you'll see a staircase at the back, but just before that, on the right, is the temple.

This sub-temple enshrines Kokuzo Bosatsu and Hotei, the guardian deities of the Years of the Ox and the Tiger.

It is known for granting academic success and wisdom.

It is especially recommended for those born in the Years of the Ox and the Tiger, and is bustling with worshippers during exam season.
