How to Pray at Temples in Thailand

Hello, this is Shigure, a Thailand enthusiast.
Today, I’ll introduce the method of praying at Thai temples. While there are some differences compared to Japanese prayer methods, you can generally just observe and mimic what others are doing! However, if you feel hesitant to try, use this post as a guide to help you pray.
Regarding prayer offerings, there are cases where the amount is specified and others where it’s left open as a donation. In the latter case, putting around 20 THB into the donation box is perfectly fine!
As for incense, unlike in Japan, you hold the incense while praying, so make sure not to place it in the incense holder beforehand! Additionally, while simply clasping your hands together is sufficient, bowing three times will make your prayer style more authentically Thai.
Give it a try!
