Dongjiang Seaside Park in Tianjin is a popular spot for seagull watching in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region! Every year, from October to February of the following year, these "love letters" from Siberia gather here, creating a spectacular sight! It's also a great place for taking photos!
🚗|Transportation
1️⃣ Driving is the most convenient option. There is a large parking lot outside the park.
2️⃣ From Beijing: Take a 40-minute high-speed train to Binhai Station → Take a taxi for 18 km (approx. CNY 50).
3️⃣ From downtown Tianjin: Take bus No. 513 directly / Take light rail line 9 and transfer to bus No. 935.
📅|Viewing Time
October to early March of the following year
⏰|Best Time of Day
7:00-8:00 am, 10:00-11:30 am (before low tide), 2:00-3:30 pm (after high tide)
Tip: Stay nearby, watch the live stream, and head over when you see a lot of seagulls.
🥯|Feeding Seagulls
Stale bread is a seagull's favorite. You can bring your own or buy it outside the park.
📸|Best Photo Spots
1️⃣ Breakwater Reef Area: Low-angle upward shots + wide-angle lens, capturing seagulls and waves together.
2️⃣ Shayun Square Long Causeway: Capture silhouettes at sunset, with flocks of seagulls dancing in the backlight.
3️⃣ Sunrise Viewing Platform: Arrive at 5:30 am to capture the red sun rising above the sea + seagulls flying across (check the weather forecast).
⚠️|Tips
1️⃣ The gaps between the rocks on the breakwater are large! Wear non-slip shoes and use a phone lanyard (someone actually fell into the sea).
2️⃣ It's very windy and cold by the sea! Remember to wear a hat and scarf.
3️⃣ There are few dining options nearby. I only saw one Lawson store. You can bring your own snacks or go to the shops 2 km away.
