The Porcelain House (The Porcelain House/China House) is located at No. 72 Chifeng Road, Heping District, Tianjin (near Heping Road Commercial Street). Originally, the building was a French-style villa and was the residence of modern Chinese diplomat Huang Rongliang. In 1949, it was requisitioned by the Tianjin Heping District Bureau of Industry and Commerce. After the bureau moved to a new location, the building was left unused for more than ten years. In September 2002, Zhang Lianzhi, president of Yueweixian Group, purchased the villa for 30 million yuan and then covered it with ancient porcelain to create the "Porcelain House," which officially opened to the public in September 2007. The Porcelain House has four floors and is decorated with over 700 million pieces of ancient porcelain shards, more than 13,000 ancient porcelain bottles, plates, and bowls, over 300 stone sculptures from various dynasties, more than 300 white marble lions, over 300 porcelain cat pillows, and more than 20 tons of crystal agate. The walls are also adorned with porcelain tile mosaics. The main attractions of the Porcelain House include the Peace Wall, Porcelain Dragon, Porcelain Lions, and famous calligraphy and paintings, earning it the reputation as a priceless "Chinese Ancient Porcelain Museum."
