As Tokyo's cherry blossom season begins to wind down, the Shinjuku Gyoen park is still holding on to its late-blooming sakura, making it the perfect spot for those who missed the earlier blooms! 🌸
While the iconic Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms in the city have already fallen, the Edo-style "Shidarezakura" (weeping cherry trees) and Yaezakura are at their peak, bursting with blossoms. With over 200 trees, the Japanese Garden section is a haven of beauty, featuring a perfect blend of traditional gardens, rock gardens, and serene ponds. The reflection of the blossoms on the water creates a stunning scene straight out of a Japanese ink painting. 🖌️💖
Shinjuku Gyoen offers a real “sakura snow” experience with petals gently drifting through the air, creating a magical atmosphere. As a royal heritage park, the garden is home to a beautiful tea house, “Kakuntei”, where you can relax under the trees, surrounded by pink blossoms. This peaceful spot is less crowded, giving you the chance to enjoy the serene beauty of the cherry blossoms without the hustle and bustle. 🌿🌸
📸 Hidden Photography Spot: The Stone Bridge in front of the old pavilion with weeping cherry trees is a gorgeous afternoon location for photos! 🌞
How to Get There:
Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station (5-minute walk to the East Gate for the Japanese garden area)
Shinjuku Sanchome Station (10-minute walk to the main entrance)
Make sure to grab a sakura ice cream at the French Rose Garden entrance while you're there! 🍦🌹
