Introducing Xijiachi

Xijia Pond, also known as Gaoyang Pond, is located at the southern foot of Fenghuang Mountain, approximately 5 kilometers south of Xiangyang City. Built during the Jianwu period of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-56 AD), Xi Yu, Marquis of Xiangyang, adopted the fish-breeding methods of Fan Li, a high official of the Yue State in the late Spring and Autumn Period. He built a 60-foot-long and 40-foot-wide earthen embankment at the foot of Baima Mountain, diverting water from the Baima Spring to create a pond for fish farming. A two-story hexagonal pavilion with double eaves, commonly known as the "Lake Center Pavilion," stands on a circular platform in the center of Xijia Pond. Surrounding it are carved stone railings, from which one can admire lotus flowers emerging from the water and leisurely swimming fish.
