Hakusan Shrine is a well-known location for hydrangea viewing in Tokyo. Situated near Tokyo Dome, it is one of Tokyo's historic shrines and part of the "Tokyo Ten Shrines" that preserve traditional rituals. Every June, the shrine and the adjacent Hakusan Park become a spectacle with approximately 3,000 blooming hydrangeas, attracting numerous visitors.
In mid-June, Hakusan Shrine hosts the "Bunkyo Hydrangea Festival," a flower-viewing event. During this time, the "Fujizuka," which is usually closed to the public and features many hydrangeas, is specially opened. The festival also includes activities such as dental health prayers, mikoshi (portable shrine) parades, outdoor stalls, and concerts, creating a lively atmosphere over the weekends.
How to get there: Take the Toei Mita Line to "Hakusan Station" and walk for about 3 minutes to reach the shrine.
