A quiet solo adventure led me to the Former Ministry of Justice Building, a striking red-brick landmark in Tokyo that I’d long wanted to explore. I visited the Legal Materials Exhibition Room, which is open to the public free of charge — a wonderful opportunity to step inside and appreciate this beautiful piece of Meiji-era architecture.
Inside, I was captivated by the restored rooms, reconstructed from old photographs. The high ceilings, elegant wooden furnishings, and refined atmosphere gave the space an air of timeless dignity. Walking through, I couldn’t help but imagine the building’s long history and the people who once worked here.
You can also see original bricks preserved from the time of construction, offering a tangible connection to the past. It’s a fascinating spot for anyone who loves architecture or history — peaceful, detailed, and beautifully maintained.
