• Hindu pilgrimage site: Every December, the Yadnya Kasada ritual is held. The Tengger natives climb to the crater to make offerings to the gods, throwing food, flowers, and animal sacrifices into the crater.
• Lautan Pasir Desert: The area surrounding the volcano has been a protected desert since 1919.
• Penanjakan Viewpoint: One of the most beautiful sunrise spots in Asia.
• The crater features a statue of Ganesha, a symbol of wisdom and protection.
