Tottori Sand Dunes: A Desert with Both Sea and Oasis

Must-Visit Spot in Tottori—Tottori Sand Dunes

Marvel at the coastline of the San'in region, enjoy the sea breeze and listen to the sound of the waves, while also walking on the massive sand dunes, as if embarking on a desert expedition. A small oasis adds a touch of color to this 'desert.' Here, you can also experience sandboarding, camel riding, or take a small cable car to enjoy the scenery. In winter, there's even a chance of snowfall, turning the dunes into a vast white snowfield. Where else can you find such a unique beach?

A 10-minute walk from the Tottori Sand Dunes will take you to the Sand Museum, where you can admire sand sculptures. Each season features a different theme, and the theme for 2024 is 'World Travel: France Edition.'

🚌 Transportation: From JR Tottori Station, take a bus bound for Tottori Sand Dunes. It takes about 20 minutes, and you can get off at either the Sakyu Kaikan Station or the Sakyu Center Observatory Station.
