Introducing Yao Ming

Dayao's Deyun Temple dates back to the Ming Dynasty. Monk Cheyong of Jizu Mountain, seeking Buddhist wisdom, journeyed from Jizu Mountain to Dayao, chose Miaofeng as the site, and led his disciples to establish Deyun Temple. The temple comprises 218 buildings, large and small, including the Main Hall, Zhijing Pavilion, Dabei Pavilion, Hall Front Building, Buddha Selection Field, Alms Bowl Gathering Center, Shancai Building, Kitchen, Warehouse, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Gate Stele, and Jinchi Pond. The White Pagoda, nicknamed the White Pagoda for its pale white color and also known as the Chime Hammer Pagoda for its resemblance to a traditional temple chime hammer, bears witness to the early days of Yunnan's relic stupa and the legacy of Dayao's Buddhist culture. Research indicates that Dayao's White Pagoda is the only one of its kind in China. The ancient Shiyang Ancient Town, located northwest of Dayao County, is a national AAA-level tourist area. It is also one of the first three historical and cultural towns, 60 tourist towns, and four characteristic tourist towns designated in Yunnan Province, and one of the four designated characteristic tourist towns in Chuxiong Prefecture. It is renowned as the "Salt Capital of the Dian Kingdom and a sacred site for Confucius." Confucian culture, salt culture, historical culture, Yi culture and Buddhist culture constitute the unique tourism culture of Shiyang Ancient Town.
