Onioshidashi Park in Gunma

A unique spot located in Tsumagoi Village, North Karuizawa

Accessible only by car or bus, this place stands isolated near Mount Asama. Formed by the lava from Mount Asama's eruption, the site offers an incredible opportunity to witness the raw power of nature up close. The resilience of the plants growing there is equally impressive, especially the beautiful pine trees that thrive in the area.

The entrance fee is around 700 yen, and most payment methods other than cash are accepted.

There are several course options ranging from 20 to 60 minutes, with about four different routes available. I chose the 60-minute full experience course and thoroughly enjoyed it. The paths are paved, so regular shoes are sufficient.

On clear days, you can see various mountain ranges. Although the weather on my visit was cloudy with occasional passing showers, it added a unique charm to the experience.
