Uchisar: A Dawn That Begins with Silence

#hellohalloween

In Cappadocia, sunrise is a spectacle. But while everyone gathers in the valleys to watch the orbs from below, I decided to go higher—to Uchisar.

It's still dark. The air smells of dust and stone, a door slams somewhere, and someone is climbing. At the summit, there's silence and a horizon. Then, suddenly, the first orbs appear. They rise one after another, and the sun touches the rocks, turning the gray tuff into gold.

📍 Location: Uchisar Viewpoint, Cappadocia, Turkey.
🕐 When to go: 20–30 minutes before dawn, while it's still cool and the sky is just beginning to lighten.

How to get there (current as of 2025)

🚶 On foot:
From the center of Uchisar, walk 10 minutes up the road toward the fortress. The observation deck is located just below the entrance to the castle itself, behind a café overlooking the valley.

🚗 By car:
Parking along the road is free, and there are spaces available even early in the morning.

🎟️ Ticket: Not required—the observation deck is open 24/7.
