Heading towards volcanoes and grasslands, the Holiday Inn Express Ulanqab Jining

The small city of Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia has gained some popularity due to the nearby Wulan Hada Volcano and Huitengxile Grassland, which are both currently in a semi-wild state with no admission fee. Imagining the spring grass and the wild charm, I quickly arranged this trip.

Ulanqab is not a big city, and the only mainstream international chain hotel is the Holiday Inn Express. According to the navigation, although the hotel is located in a new district, the surrounding amenities are comprehensive, ensuring that dining, drinking, and entertainment are all taken care of. It's only an hour and a half drive from Hohhot Airport. Can't wait to check in, I went to a traditional Mongolian restaurant nearby, where lamb and lamb offal were promptly served.

Free parking is available at the hotel entrance. After recognizing my membership at the front desk, my room type was upgraded, and I was offered a welcome drink and fruit, all without any unnecessary chatter. The guest room is on a high floor with a view of the ordinary street landscape, and the decor is the standard for express hotels, but it's spacious, well-proportioned, and well-maintained.

The night is quiet, and the bedding is soft, but unfortunately, I didn't sleep very well. This is because the weather on the grassland is unpredictable during the spring and summer transition. In recent days, even with the window open, the room was still slightly stuffy and hot. The central air conditioning is probably only turned on in the summer, so I woke up several times in the latter half of the night feeling hot and thirsty.

The next day's breakfast was arranged on the second floor restaurant, decorated in a grassland style, with a standard offering. There were local specialties such as lamb offal soup, salty milk tea, and traditional pastries.
