🪨 What are the Ellora Caves?
The Ellora Caves are a group of ancient caves carved from basalt rock in Maharashtra, India, near Aurangabad. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a remarkable example of ancient Indian art, harmoniously blending Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism.
🗿 Cave Features
• There are over 100 caves in total, but only about 34 are open to the public.
• They are divided into three groups based on religion:• Buddhist Caves (Nos. 1–12): These are temples and monasteries for monks, with prayer rooms and statues of Buddha.

• Carved entirely from a single piece of rock, it is considered the "largest monolithic temple in the world."

• Built between 600 and 1000 AD by the Rashtrakuta and Yadava dynasties.
