Patuxai Vientiane Laos

#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck
When in France, you must visit the Arc de Triomphe. When in Laos, you definitely can't miss taking photos at Patuxai.

Visit "Patuxai," the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane.

A classic landmark you must visit when visiting Vientiane, Laos.

🗼 Patuxai means "Gate of Victory." The name comes from the Lao word "patu," meaning gate, and "sai," which comes from Sanskrit, meaning victory, similar to the Thai word "Paul Victory."

It was built to commemorate the heroism of Lao soldiers who died during World War II and the struggle for independence from France.

🧱 A notable feature is that Patuxai used cement that had been prepared for the airport, but was repurposed as a memorial instead, as the political situation in the country changed dramatically during that era. Although it was never completed according to the original plan, it has become a symbol of pride for Lao people.

🎨 The building resembles the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but is decorated with unique Lao patterns, earning it the nickname "Vertical Runway" for its grandeur and elegance.

📸 From the top, you can also enjoy panoramic views of Vientiane. Photography enthusiasts won't want to miss this! There are plenty of photo spots, both classic and chic!

🚗 Getting there: Conveniently accessible by InDrive or local taxi from the city center, it takes only a short time.
📍 Location: In the heart of Vientiane, Laos
🕘 Open daily (visit times may vary depending on the season, so please check before traveling).
