A 2-Day, 1-Night Family Trip in Jiangsu, Zhejiang & Shanghai|The Sea in Wenling Is Bluer Than You Imagine!

Summer is definitely the time to take the kids to the beach! This time, we chose Wenling, Taizhou, about 4+ hours from Hangzhou. Before leaving, we saw quite a few warnings and worried it might be “catfishing,” but guess what—who says Zhejiang doesn’t have a big blue sea? Wenling in August strongly disagrees!

Traveling with kids means keeping it easy, so here’s a laid-back guide you can refer to~

Day 1: Beachcombing + Sunset Chasing, Enjoying Island Bliss

•🚗 Left Hangzhou at 6:00 AM, arrived in Wenling around 10:30 AM. The guesthouse we booked is right next to Jinsha Beach, with windows opening to the beach and lighthouse. You can also rent small electric scooters (super affordable), making it easy to get around with a vehicle. Except for the slightly small sea view room, everything else was great—highly recommended!

•🍽️ Lunch was at a restaurant next to the guesthouse. The small seafood dishes were fresh and flavorful, and the mung bean noodles were a surprisingly delicious treat (P7).

•🌊 After a nap, we headed to Gehai Island for beachcombing! Navigate to “Wenling Gehai Ferry Co., Ltd.” Tickets are 6 yuan. Remember to check the return time carefully—we missed ours and had to find a private fishing boat to get back 😂 (P2-6).

•⚠️ Beachcombing requires good protection! The shell fragments on the rocks are super sharp and can easily cause cuts. Safety first~

•🌅 After beachcombing, we dropped off our gear at the guesthouse and went to Xiao Ruo Village to wait for the sunset. Unfortunately, the sun hid behind the clouds, so we strolled nearby and grabbed dinner there (P8-11).

Day 2: Sea Viewing + Sand Play, Letting Time Flow with the Waves

•🌄 In the morning, we rushed to the Duijie Viewing Platform. The mountaintop view was amazing, and the weather was perfect—cool and comfortable. Although we didn’t go to Tutu Café, we still hit the popular photo spot 😏 (P12-13).

•🏖️ Then we headed straight down to Jinsha Beach. Tickets are 30 yuan per person; kids under 1.2 meters are free. The sand is fine and soft, and the kids immediately buried themselves digging. The uncle, who got “battle scars” from beachcombing yesterday, quietly built a “Bikini Bottom” nearby—architecture DNA at work 😂.

•🛶 We rented a sunshade canopy, enjoyed the sea breeze, and watched the family laugh and play. This kind of relaxation is probably what summer beach trips are all about~
