Jakarta Hotel Experience: A Blend of Ancient History and Modern Comfort

🏨🔍Batavia Hotel
📍🏙️Jl. Kali Besar Barat No 44 - 46 Roa Malaka, Tambora, Jakarta
The hotel is located in a historically rich area in North Jakarta, making it quite convenient to reach from the airport. I've heard that such an old town district is quite rare in the city center. Moreover, there are many historical attractions nearby, so if you have a strong interest in this kind of thing, this place should be a good choice.

🗺️👣 Although the surrounding traffic is a bit congested, you can quickly explore the area on foot from the hotel. Jakarta Old Town is nearby and within walking distance, featuring a rich history of old colonial buildings on one side and a lively commercial street on the other, both quite distinctive. The hotel building retains the Dutch colonial style, looking very vintage and elegant at first glance. However, the service at the front desk felt a bit different. There was a small distraction due to a long wait during check-in. The rooms are quite spacious with a reasonable layout, but some areas are old and need improvement—like the issue with weak water flow in the bathroom, which was quite troublesome.

🛌🛁 The room experience can be described as less than ideal. Although the deluxe rooms are large, the cleaning was not very thorough, and the bathroom issues made me somewhat uncomfortable. The bed is big and moderately firm, but the strange odor was a bit disturbing, and the soundproofing at night was not very good. Although the minibar was locked, whether you feel secure about it is subjective. The old-fashioned decor and facilities definitely seem to need renovation.

🌆🏙️ Nearby the hotel, Jakarta Old Town and Fatahillah Square are definitely worth a visit, both carrying deep Indonesian cultural heritage. Attractions like the Bank Indonesia Museum and Istiqlal Grand Mosque will not disappoint. If you want to enjoy local cuisine, places like Cafe Batavia and Rumah Makan Medan Baru are must-visits, with quite good food quality.

In summary, this place has a strong atmosphere of historical and modern contrast. If you are not pursuing very high accommodation standards but are more focused on cultural exploration and reasonable prices, this might still be a good choice. 🧳🌎
