The emperor really did eat with a golden bowl! Not only a golden bowl, but also golden chopsticks, a golden spoon, a golden cup, a golden plate, and even a golden pot for cooking medicine. I used to think that the emperor's golden bowl was just a myth, like the empress of the east palace making pancakes and the empress of the west palace rolling green onions. I was surprised to find that it was all real gold, but also comforted to find that it was all things I had seen before and could imagine.
