🌿 Yuantouzhu 鼋头渚 — A Peaceful Summer Escape by Taihu Lake

I visited Yuantouzhu Scenic Area (鼋头渚) in summer, and although it’s not cherry blossom season, the place still absolutely stole my heart. Located along the shores of the iconic Taihu Lake (太湖), it offers shady paths, cooling lake breezes, and gorgeous open views that feel far from the city heat.

🌳 There’s plenty of natural beauty to enjoy — ancient trees, little bridges, and pavilions tucked away among lush greenery. I especially loved taking the ferry across Taihu to Fairy Island (仙岛). The views of the lake from the boat are wide and peaceful, with distant mountains and traditional rooftops dotting the shoreline.

🧭 How to get there:
• From Wuxi Railway Station, take Metro Line 1 to Yuantouzhu Station (鼋头渚站)
• Then grab a short bus or taxi to the park entrance
• 🎫 Entry ticket: ~90–100 RMB depending on season (ferry ticket separate)

☀️ Tips for summer visitors:
• Go early to avoid the afternoon heat and enjoy cooler lake winds
• Wear a hat, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes — the park is big!
• Bring water or buy a drink at one of the lakeside kiosks
• If you don’t want to walk the whole area, consider the electric shuttle service.

Even without spring flowers, Yuantouzhu is a serene summer getaway, and the Taihu ferry ride is the perfect way to cool down and take in the tranquil scenery.
