Craving delicious aged pork belly, I decided to visit Matchandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Yangju Branch. Located in Okjeong-dong, Yangju, this restaurant is known as a must-visit spot even for people coming from Seoul, Dongducheon, and Pocheon, which heightened my expectations.

The interior of the restaurant was spacious and clean, with wide gaps between tables, making it comfortable to dine. We ordered their signature dishes: aged fresh pork belly and aged pork shoulder. Watching the thickly sliced meat sizzle on the grill was mouthwatering as always. The staff grilled the meat for us, ensuring it was cooked to perfection for us to enjoy effortlessly.

Taking a bite of the golden-brown pork belly wrapped in pickled sesame leaves, the burst of juicy flavor and nutty aroma filled my mouth. The aged meat was incredibly tender and rich in taste. The pork shoulder was equally delightful, moist and not dry at all. The side dishes, including fresh vegetables, seasoned green onions, and kimchi, paired wonderfully with the meat.

After finishing the meat, we mixed rice into the soybean paste stew, which had a deep, savory flavor that was truly exceptional. Additionally, participating in the on-site photo review event earned us a coupon for water parsley, making the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, the fresh and flavorful meat, attentive service, and pleasant environment made for a satisfying meal. This is definitely a place I’d revisit whenever I crave aged pork belly!
