The starting point of Yantai, where mountains, sea, and city converge: Yantai Mountain Scenic Area

Yantai Mountain Scenic Area is an iconic location where the name of the city originated, and it serves as a key attraction where mountains, the sea, and the city meet. This park, characterized by low hills surrounded on three sides by the sea, derives its name 'Yantai' (烟台) from the smoke signals once sent from its beacon tower. Today, it has been developed into a cultural tourist destination that harmonizes historical relics with coastal scenery.

Atop the mountain, you'll find a lighthouse, Guanhailou (Sea Viewing Pavilion), the beacon tower, consulate buildings, and the Anti-Japanese Martyrs Memorial Tower. Particularly, the white lighthouse observatory offers a panoramic view of Yantai Port, the sea, and the old town, with the striking contrast of the blue sea and red rooftops leaving a lasting impression. Along the walking paths, you can also encounter consulate buildings from the opening port era, representing countries like Britain, France, and Japan, allowing visitors to appreciate Western architectural beauty and a historical atmosphere.

The park is not very large, so it can be fully explored in half a day. Each season offers a unique blend of sea hues and greenery. As a place that encapsulates Yantai's history and the distinctive scenery of a port city, it is an ideal spot to experience the region's identity even on a short trip.
