Stunning Ancient Coastal Architecture Check-in

Penglai is just too magical! Half a day to explore Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s “Dream Immortal Mountain”✨

Hey guys! When you come to Penglai, don’t just stick to Penglai Pavilion! I went to Sanshan Mountain last week and was speechless from the beauty! The legendary immortal mountain Emperor Qin Shi Huang sought really exists. The pavilions and towers are built by the sea, and stepping inside feels like entering an illustration from the Classic of Mountains and Seas. Half a day is enough to fully explore the core area, so here’s a quick guide for you~

First, how to get there! 🚗 Driving from Yantai city center takes about 1.5 hours, just follow the signs easily; if taking public transport, take a bus from Yantai Station or Airport to Penglai Bus Station, then a taxi for 15 yuan to the site, or wait for the free scenic area shuttle bus, super convenient!

The first stop after entering is the Hall of Harmony and Peace! 🏯 I was amazed right away. The architecture blends Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism with great style. The carvings on the beams are lifelike, and the giant jade sculpture inside the hall made my eyes wide open—perfect for photos!

Next, take the elevator at Penglai Fairy Island up to the 6th-floor viewing platform 🌊 The boundary between the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea is right below your feet, with one side’s water a bit darker and the other lighter. Overlooking the entire “Immortal Mountain” and the sea together, the sense of openness is incredible—grab your wide-angle lens quickly!

Take your time wandering through Fanghu Scenic Area 🪷 The lotus boardwalk is so poetic, and the architectural complex in the style of the Old Summer Palace is hidden in the shade. It’s super cool in summer, and when you get tired, sit down and enjoy the breeze—it’s so comfortable you won’t want to leave!

You must spend at least half an hour in the Treasure Hall! 🗿 The 108-ton whole jade reclining Buddha is truly spectacular, and there’s also a 72-ton whole jade standing Guanyin. It feels icy cold to the touch (but don’t actually touch it, there are signs prohibiting it~). Over 2,000 stone and wood carvings dazzle your eyes—culture lovers will be thrilled!

Finally, head to Yingzhou Wonderland to wait for the mist forest system! ☁️ When the mist rises, the “sky pavilion” looks like it’s floating in the clouds. No need to edit your ancient-style photos! At Hehe Fairy Causeway, you can step in the water and watch the sea. The scenery where sea and sky blend instantly calms you down~

Let me break down the costs for you! 🎫 Adult tickets are 100 yuan, with discounts for early booking. Student tickets are only 68! Transportation costs 15-30 yuan. It’s recommended to bring your own snacks because food inside is a bit pricey. You can manage with about 150 yuan per person, super cost-effective!

Here are some thoughtful tips! ⚠️ During summer vacation, be sure to enter before 8 AM to avoid crowds! Wear comfortable shoes as some walking is required; keep quiet in the Treasure Hall and religious sites~ In July and August, you can buy a combo ticket for Penglai Pavilion + Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea + Sanshan Mountain for only 248 yuan, saving 30%!

For family trips, focus on the Treasure Hall and mist forest—kids love them; photography enthusiasts shouldn’t miss the viewing platform and sky pavilion, with a 100% chance of great shots!

I really love Sanshan Mountain’s “peace amid the bustle” immortal vibe! No crowds, and you can immerse yourself in mythical charm~ Have you been to Penglai? Share any hidden gems in the comments! If you haven’t been, save this guide and head straight to Yantai next time~😉
