Penglai Pavilion in Yantai, Shandong Province, is an ancient pavilion built on a coastal cliff in Penglai District. Known as the "Pavilion on the Sea," it boasts breathtaking scenery. Originally constructed during the Song Dynasty, it has undergone several renovations to achieve its current grandeur and is considered one of China's four great pavilions. The pavilion complex includes the main Penglai Pavilion, Sanqing Palace, Tianhou Palace, Xiaogong Temple, Dragon King Palace, and Mita Temple, with each structure arranged along the cliffs and coastline, offering diverse views as you walk through.
Penglai Pavilion has long been regarded as a dwelling place for immortals, earning it the title "Immortal World of the East." On clear days, sea mist rises over the water, creating a mystical atmosphere. The view of the sea from the cliff's edge is strikingly open and expansive, allowing visitors to appreciate both the historical architectural beauty and the natural scenery. A visit typically takes about half a day, making it a must-see cultural and tourist attraction in Yantai.
