"When the train reaches Idu, Amo Idu is diluting, oh, there is water in the air. The water in the air is Idu, and the copper Idu is diluting, Amo Idu, and the copper Idu is dripping." This is a familiar tune, a nursery rhyme from Yilan called "Diu Diu Tong". Diudiudang Forest, located diagonally opposite the Yilan Railway Station, was planned and built by architect Huang Shengyuan and incorporates the flying train from Jimmy Liao's picture book "Starry Sky". In addition, it is constructed with nine giant steel trees that are 14 meters high, symbolizing the image of Yilan’s old name - Jiuxiong City. Of course, the most eye-catching place here is Ji Mi’s work Star Train. The 30-meter-long train is suspended under a giant steel tree, making it difficult for people not to take a few glances. There are also some cultural and creative products and vendors selling them in the square of Diudiu Dang Forest. Although the entire park is not large, it is still quite comfortable to visit. Tomorrow is the first day of the Lunar New Year. Today's weather is cloudy with occasional rain so there are not many tourists on site. Maybe everyone is still busy cleaning and praying. Maybe tomorrow there will be a sea of people here. When traveling to Yilan, visiting Ji Mi’s works is a must-do itinerary, because the works are all near the station so it is very convenient and you don’t have to run around a lot. The familiar ballad is about to sound again, and our train is about to continue to the next attraction. (20210211)
