Jianhua Ice Shop, unique ice cream, a must-stop for passionate cyclists

There is a place you will definitely pass by on the way from Yilan to Hualien by bike or car. It is an ice cream shop in Suao that has been open for 70 years. The yellow background with blue words on the sign is quite eye-catching.

The first time I ate ice cream with raw eggs, I had to fry the eggs! This is Jianhua’s special Preacher Ice. It was originally made for missionaries to eat. All the seasonings were added, but they felt it was not nutritious enough, so they added a raw egg. It has been sold like this for 60 years and has become a signature dish. Their ingredients are not too sweet, the red beans are cooked soft, and the peanuts are crispy, paired with the smooth texture of their icy ice. If you don’t dare to eat raw eggs, you can replace them with ice cream, which is equally delicious.
I fell in love with this preaching ice the first time I tried it, and I still miss the taste from time to time.

Another feature of Jianhua that is popular with riders is that they can put the team’s flags and stickers in large sizes on the store sign, as if it were a competition, attracting riders to check in one after another.
