Blue moon valley,lijiang

Blue Moon Valley is a lake in the middle of a valley on the other side of the same park as the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang City. The water in this lake comes from the melting snow on the Snow Mountain that flows together here, making the water in this area turquoise blue. The water in the lake is very cold all year round.
Located at the eastern foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, it is commonly known as "Baisuihe". It is 4,000 meters above sea level. The water in this lake comes from the melting snow on the Snow Mountain that flows together, making the water in this area turquoise blue. The water in the lake is very cold all year round. The valley is crescent-shaped when viewed from a distance.

Even in the summer, the temperature of the water here does not change at all. The length of this lake is about 3 kilometers. You can walk the entire distance to visit here or choose to take a battery-powered car that will take tourists from one point to another.

The reason the water in the river is blue is because the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain contains a substance called copper sulfate. This substance flows into the Blue Moon Valley along with the snow that melts from the mountain. When copper sulfate meets water, it turns blue. Therefore, the water in Blue Moon Valley is always blue. Therefore, the water here can be viewed but not drunk because it contains a lot of copper ions.
