A garden poem that travels through time: Zhuhai Yuanmingyuan, a replica of the oriental fantasy of the heyday

#Zhuhai Attractions
Zhuhai Yuanmingyuan is a garden that embodies thousands of years of oriental aesthetics. Stepping into the vermilion palace gate is like falling into the folds of time. On sunny days, the glazed tiles are gilded and colorful, the corridors in front of the Jiuzhou Qingyan Palace are winding, and spots of light jump on the dragon-patterned floor tiles like palace music scores.

Walking through the moon-shaped gate of a Jiangnan garden, you will suddenly see a gray-plastic window with Lingnan style; next to the remains of a large Western fountain, a girl in Hanfu passes by with an umbrella, and new and old light and shadow coexist wonderfully here. In the afternoon, you can go boating on the lake and watch the koi fish dragging broken cloud shadows; at dusk, you can climb up to the Yaotai of Pengdao Island and wait for a colorful feather dance with the sunset as the backdrop.

Although it is not an old royal forbidden area, one can still feel the lingering charm of the prosperous times here. Before leaving the garden, don’t forget to stop by Quyuan Fenghe and buy a lotus ice cream to let the sweetness dilute the bitterness of history.

Tips: Admission is free, and it is recommended to rent an electronic guide to listen to the story of the building; there is a light show at night on weekends, and you can taste authentic Cantonese dim sum at the adjacent Lanpu Road Teahouse.
