Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park

海南热带野生动植物园

Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park, also known as Dongshan Wildlife Park, is China's first large-scale tropical wildlife park and the only island-type tropical rainforest park in China. It is known as "a natural museum that concentrates the essence of Hainan Island's native flora and fauna". The park is located in Dongshan Town, Xiuying District, Haikou City, Hainan Province, about 27 kilometers away from the center of Haikou City. The theme is tropical wildlife expo and popular science. The landscape in the park is purely natural. The vast forest and dense plants create a good wild environment for animals; and the artificial jungle trails and various exotic flowers and plants make visitors feel like they are in the nature full of birdsong and flowers.

Introduction

  • Attraction Location: Haikou City, Hainan Province, China (中国海南省海口市)

  • History: The park was established in the late 1990s as Hainan’s largest ecological zoo and tropical botanical reserve. It combines wildlife protection, tropical vegetation preservation, scientific research, and eco-tourism. Over the years, it has grown into a comprehensive park with both safari-style and traditional enclosures.

  • Architecture: The design features large open-range safari zones, botanical gardens, aviaries, reptile houses, and visitor facilities built with tropical eco-style pavilions and walkways. The safari bus system allows tourists to view animals in semi-wild habitats.

  • Cultural Value: The park integrates wildlife conservation awareness with tropical biodiversity education. It highlights Hainan’s unique ecosystem, combining cultural exhibitions of ethnic minority traditions with natural science education for children and families.

There are two places in Haikou suitable for family trips. The most famous one is Hainan Tropical Wildlife Botanical Garden and the other is Swan Lake Animal Base. I won't go into details about the zoo here. There are zoos in many cities across the country. They are similar in type and size. I just want to mention that Haikou Zoo is really far from the city. It's really tiring if you don't drive there by yourself.

This wildlife park is dirty and messy and is not worth visiting

This zoo is absolutely great for self-driving tours. It is very exciting to drive into the wild animal area. Lions, tigers, bears, ligers and tigers are all very close to the car. You can watch them up close through the car window. The park has been reminding you not to get off the car and open the window door in the wild animal area. The whole park is more primitive, not as well planned as Chimelong, but not as commercial as Chimelong. Feeding animals is 10 yuan, and the parking fee is 3 yuan, which is still very good! Monkey Mountain is more fun. Feeding monkeys at zero distance!

Zoos and botanical gardens in all places are the same, it seems like I have to go to all of them. Haha. . .

Buy tickets online or buy student tickets, which is cheaper. You can get there by bus or minibus. The animals are better than the average animals, they are all outdoors and have safety protection. It takes half a day to visit, so you need to bring food and water, as they are expensive.

The animal and botanical garden is really big. It is divided into the animal area and the plant area. You can drive to the animal area, and walk to the plant area. It is very good.

Stop 80: Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park. AAAA, 100 yuan ticket, no inspection required. First, the Haiye Park is also a car and walk, but the car area feels very unreliable in terms of safety settings. There is only a small gate separating the lion area and the elk area. The key is that cars are constantly passing through, and many people get off the car to feed the elk. The gate is not closed, and the security guard does not remind them. If a lion appears and runs over, the consequences are unimaginable. Second, after spending the ticket money, the eldest child had a stomachache and could not walk, and the four adults instantly lost their mood to play. The youngest daughter was very curious and kept teasing the monkeys on the monkey mountain.

Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park is China's first national AAAA-level tourist attraction with the theme of rare wild animals and plants science exhibition, protection and breeding, sightseeing, leisure and vacation. The landscape in the park is purely natural. The vast forest and dense plants create a good wild environment for animals, allowing wild animals and plants to have space to live freely in the tropical jungle, allowing animals to show their wildness. Tourists who like animals and plants can go and have a look. Buses can go directly there.

I just wanted to take a look around because it is one of the few scenic spots in Haikou. But I was surprised when I got there. Not only is the scenery beautiful and the tropical atmosphere strong, but you can also drive into the park to see large wild animals, such as African lions, black bears, ligers, sika deer, elephants, monkeys, and camels. You can also feed the animals. It is very suitable for children. The ticket price is 70.

It is the first AAAA national scenic spot in China with tropical wild animal and plant exposition and popular science theme, a key tourism enterprise and famous scenic spot in Hainan Province, the largest lion and tiger herd in the country, the landscape is purely natural, the vast forest... It is the only natural oxygen bar in China that shows the island tropical rainforest ecosystem in a panoramic way and concentrates the essence of Hainan Island's flora and fauna.

70 per person, the price is acceptable. There are indeed many animals and plants. For me who likes animals and likes to go to zoos everywhere, I naturally like this place very much. I can get close to animals and I am very happy. Children will definitely like it here. There are many lions and tigers, which are quite rare in other places. The animals in the wild animal area lack wildness and there are not many of them. I guess it is for safety reasons. The monkeys, hippos, and elephants will give you super cute food. There are not many birds in the bird park. If you go too late, the birds will fly away. It will take about two or three hours to see them all. Arrange your time reasonably. In addition, I must tell you that the tourist line almost never leaves. I waited for more than an hour but didn’t get it. In the end, I took a long-distance bus. Everyone must not wait for the tourist line bus.

You can feed monkeys, tigers, crocodiles, hippos, chickens, and elephants here. I contracted a snack time for the zoo's animals, but they were so hungry that I backed off after realizing my financial situation.

A wide variety of flora and fauna

They're all locked in cages.

Poor thing

Or learn from abroad

It is more ecological to lock people in cars for a visit

The first in China - an AAAA national scenic spot with tropical wild animal and plant exposition and popular science theme, a key tourism enterprise and well-known scenic spot in Hainan Province, the largest lion and tiger herd in the country, the landscape is purely natural, the vast forest... Lions, tigers and other animals are locked up here, it's really depressing! Only hippos can soak in water. The black swan can't fly away, probably because its wings are broken.

Here, the first thing is to take a car tour of the wildlife area. The whole journey takes at least 1 hour. On the way, you can see many wild animals, such as lions, tigers, elephants, black bears, etc. Of course, you are sitting in the car at this time, that is, "they" are looking at you outside. You will also see elk, wild camels, peacocks, ostriches and other docile animals. After the car tour, you will continue to visit the wild plant area, which will be interspersed with isolated animal areas such as monkeys, hippos, crocodiles, etc. Next, you will visit the plant area. Compared with the bare tree trunks in the north, this place is evergreen all year round, and Hainan is a province without industry at all, creating clear streams and evergreen forests. So it is recommended that you come here to taste and get close to nature.

In the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park, half of the animals in the park can be viewed by visitors in their own private cars. For example, to view herbivorous animals such as giraffes, emus, ostriches, white buffaloes, sika deer, elephants, eld's deer, and ponies, we can park our car on the side of the road and buy carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas and other food from the staff to feed them and get close to them. When viewing carnivores such as lions and black bears, we drove the car to the lions to view them and take pictures of them as the electrified iron gates opened and closed. At the closest time, the front of our car was only one meter away from a group of lions lying under a tree to enjoy the cool air. It was really thrilling.

The landscape in the park is purely natural. The vast forest and lush plants create a good wild environment for animals. The artificially opened jungle trails and various exotic flowers and plants make visitors feel as if they are in the vibrant nature with birds singing and flowers blooming, entering a beautiful, thrilling and interesting animal world.
