This may be the only scenic spot in Haikou that is worth spending some time to visit. There are a few points that impressed me deeply: first, it is rare to get so close to the crater (according to the standard of whether it has erupted within 10,000 years, this is still an active volcano), and you can go down to the bottom of the crater. It is indeed my first time to try it; second, there is a circular plank road at the top of the crater, and it is quite special to name the viewing point after the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermillion Bird and Black Tortoise; third, the settings of the science museum and the visitor center are quite in place, which can meet the needs of science and can also solve the problem of luggage storage for tourists. Booking tickets online can be nearly half the price, as long as you book the tickets one hour in advance, it is recommended. What I want to complain about is that public transportation is inconvenient and there is no bus to get there.
I have always been very curious about volcanoes, so when I saw the Volcano Crater National Geopark in Haikou, I came to take a look.
Public transportation is not very convenient. It is 4 kilometers away from the park by bus. There is a tourist route with a fare of 15 yuan.
For tourists who like geography and geology, this should be a good place. For me, it's just a visit.
In addition, there is another attraction that you can consider including in your itinerary: Leiqiong Volcano Group Geopark. In a broader sense, this is a volcano group park, but in a narrower sense, it is just a park. If you go there for the beautiful scenery, you will probably be disappointed, as it is quite far from the city. But if you want to see the extinct volcano crater, you can still go there. In short, it is a tourist attraction that is open to everyone's opinion.
The first stop was Leiqiong Geopark. I went there on a business trip in the summer of 2017. This time, there was an older brother who loved taking photos of me. It was really cold. The temperature in Haikou was only a few degrees higher than that in Guangzhou. I couldn't let my mood be easily affected when I went out to play. The older brother patiently took pictures, and I was responsible for posing for self-pretentious photos. (I really feel that I am getting uglier and uglier as I grow older)
[Tickets] The original price is 60 yuan, but you can save more than ten yuan by booking in advance on the website.
Entering the park, there was a New Year's Day atmosphere. There were some folk songs and dances arranged in the snack square. We didn't stay for too long and kept going up to the commanding height of the crater. The rain and fog were mixed with wind. The flowing fog made me feel like I was in a fairyland, and I realized the hazy beauty of the so-called misty rain.
It's not very big. I walked around for an hour and a half. The traces of the volcano are not very obvious. There is nothing special.
The overall feeling is good. This place is especially suitable for geologists and photography enthusiasts.
It's so hot, it's suitable to bring children here. Apart from popularizing volcanic knowledge, there is nothing else to do.
The first time I bought an e-ticket, I had to pick it up within 1 hour, and it was not possible to pick it up at a late time.
When visiting Haikou Crater Geological Park, you must go down to the bottom of the cave to have a look. It is really worth the trip.
The Geopark is not crowded, and it is a rare good place to go during the holidays. It is good to take the children to learn about it. It is just that the geographical location is remote, so you need to do your homework in advance.
After a tiring few days of traveling, I slept until eight o'clock in the morning. After finally getting enough sleep and perking up, I headed towards the Volcanic Geological Park!
The Haikou Volcanoes World Geopark is a graben-rift type basic volcanic activity geological relic and one of the few dormant volcanoes in China that has experienced volcanic eruptions in the Holocene (10,000 years ago).

There are a lot of people, the stairs are steep, and they are even more slippery after rain. People with the elderly and children should pay attention to safety. The Didi driver said that this scenic spot has no peak and off-peak seasons, and there are always a lot of people. There have been records of heavy rains, but the number of tourists in the scenic spot has not decreased.
The gate is OK, the ticket price is 50, ready to go in
If you want to reach the highest point to see the crater, or look down at the view of Haikou, you have to climb up. You have to climb more than a hundred steps to see it. It is said that you can see the Qiongzhou Strait between Hainan and Guangdong from here.

It's ok. It rained the whole day when I came. I wandered around aimlessly. I suggest you find a tour guide!
It was a good travel experience, the scenery was nice, and the weather in July was not hot, which was a surprise
The scenery on the crater is very good, I like it very much. There are many butterflies, which I also like. It is very cool in the crater, which is good for cooling off. I like it. There are many plants in the whole park, which I also like. In short, it is a great experience.
The entire geological park is built on the basis of a volcanic crater. From the entrance, you will follow the path of the magma flowing after the eruption. The stone steps are built beside the lava flow. You will walk all the way to the crater and arrive at the commanding height of Haikou at 222.8 meters. Here you can see the sunken crater. Unlike the dark crater in your impression, this place has been covered with a green coat and full of tropical vegetation. In the distance, you can see two small craters, one large and one small, adjacent to each other.
There are stairs leading to the bottom of the crater. When you reach the bottom of the cave, step on the lava flow, look up, and think about the hot and thick lava from the core of the earth that erupted from here 10,000 years ago. It was unstoppable, unrepentant, roaring out, and destroying everything with infinite energy. The point where the energy is most concentrated has now become the most concave point. Is this what the saying "extremes lead to opposites" means? The plants in the cave are a little different from those outside. There are many more ferns, which makes this place a different world.
There are some large pieces of basalt lava along the way to the crater. The scenic spot used its imagination to design them into various shapes. I think the most similar one is a golden toad, which I specially took as a souvenir to pray for wealth.
It's a 4A scenic spot, and the ticket price is 60 yuan. It takes one and a half hours to see everything. Unfortunately, the attractions in Haikou are relatively delicate. In addition, due to the lack of geological knowledge, if you bring children here, explain to them the causes and types of basaltic volcanoes, and carefully observe the debris cones, lava cones, mixed cones, etc. formed by magma eruptions. This is very good for popular science, but the time required is immeasurable.
The volcanic landform overlooks the city of Haikou. The public transportation is not very convenient, but you can take a bus or a scooter nearby.
Before I went there, I was still looking forward to this natural volcano group. Maybe because it was too long ago, all I could see were various volcanic rocks and vaguely visible craters. But it is still a unique thing. You will regret it if you don’t go. Since you are in Haikou, you still need to go and see it.
Hainan Island, as a chicken leg of the People's Republic of China, was originally connected to the body. Later, it separated with the movement of the plates, but the qi veins are still connected, so there is a volcanic belt from Zhanjiang, Guangdong to Haikou, and the solidified magma can still be seen today.
Although the park is not large, the combination of volcanoes and tropical plants is very distinctive. The park is well managed, the prices are not expensive, and the cost performance is high.
The facilities are relatively complete. The plants at the entrance of the cave under the crater are very beautiful, which is the biggest highlight. The scenic area is not big, but it is okay overall.
Online ticket booking needs to be made one hour in advance, starting from the time you receive the SMS confirming the successful booking. It is recommended that you calculate the travel time.
When you get there, head straight up the mountain to see the crater and the panoramic view of the seaport, then walk down to the bottom of the cave and come back from the road halfway up the mountain. You can take your time to see the other views at the entrance after you get down the mountain.
The indoor exhibition is not very good, so you don't have to watch it if you don't have time. If you need to explain it to your children, you can download some information from the Internet in advance, or watch some popular science videos about volcanoes with your children.
After entering the gate, you can scan the QR code in the information area, which has audio introductions of various attractions. You can listen to them while walking with headphones, which is very convenient. There are many toilets in the park, which is good.
The tickets are not worth it, the scenery is average, it's just a park, and it took only two hours to walk through it.
Inside is the original crater, and you can go down to the bottom
My favorite attraction in Haikou is the Leiqiong Crater Geological Park. You can climb to the highest point of the crater and also go down to the lowest point of the crater. The volcanic park has beautiful scenery, more than a thousand kinds of green plants, and the air is extremely fresh, which makes people feel relaxed and happy.
Very beautiful volcano. First time to see a volcano up close.
It is a dead volcano in Hainan, with an altitude of only more than 200 meters. You can climb to the top in one go and then walk around the crater. There are many introductions to volcanic culture, and some crops grown on the volcano are sold.
It was around 10 o'clock when we arrived at Wanlvyuan Station. It is really a big station with many buses stopping here. I happened to see Bus No. 2, so I asked how long it would take to get to Bus No. 1, because I had always heard that Bus No. 1 only runs once an hour, but later I found out that it was not the case. The driver was very nice and told me that he would come later, and sure enough, he came soon. There were only two people on the bus, and later I found out that there were three of us going to the terminal. It cost 15 yuan and we had to prepare change. The journey was very smooth. I used the APP to book the tickets on the bus, but I didn't expect it to arrive so quickly. It ended up being less than an hour, so I had to wait. At first I thought there would be fewer people on a rainy day, but I didn't expect that there were still many tourists because it was Saturday. After exchanging the tickets, I started walking in the park in the drizzle. Although the drizzle didn't have much of an impact, and there were plenty of oxygen-rich ions, I found it was all foggy after I reached the top, and I couldn't see anything clearly. It was such a pity. Fortunately, there was a Fengluling crater, so I could take a close look at it, which made up for the regret. Think about it, this was an erupting crater 8,000 years ago, and it ended up like this. I really have to sigh that the power of nature is really great. There is also a trace of ancient lava. It's not easy to preserve it until now. This attraction is really worth visiting. It's best to pick a day with good weather, and come back again when the weather is good in the future.
You can go and have a look, it's also good to gain some knowledge
This is a volcanic park with unique features, and it is also the place with the highest altitude in Haikou.
The scenery is good, especially the crater, which is spectacular~
Hainan Island Crater Geopark is magnificent and worth seeing...
Located in Shishan Town, southwest of Haikou City, only 15 kilometers away from the urban area, it is one of the few dormant mountain groups in China that have experienced volcanic eruptions in the Holocene (10,000 years ago). The last eruption was in the Quaternary Holocene, about 13,000 years ago. After thousands of years of sea and earth changes, 36 cup-cone crater landform sites are still preserved here, among which the Ma'anling crater is 222.8 meters above sea level, the highest peak in northern Hainan.
It's a good place, worth a visit, but it's too inconvenient to go there and back. When I went there, I took a car according to the hotel's instructions, but it was gone. When I went back, I couldn't see any buses or coaches at all. I could only take Didi to go there and back. It was okay if there were many people, but it was not worth it for one person.
I went there in 2014. The park is very big with good air. It is in the suburbs and there are special shuttle buses to get there. It has a similar feel to the Jianghu Guangyan in Zhanjiang.
There are tree sculptures and some geological and cultural landscapes below the park, all of which are free and nice to take a look around.
This is probably the place with the highest altitude in Haikou. You can see the urban area of Haikou. As soon as you enter, someone will give you a gourd. At first you thought it was free and they asked you to get water from it. Then when you want to take it away, they will ask you for several dozen yuan. I didn’t want it because it was a very small gourd.
There are four volcanoes in the scenic area, the southern cone Fengluling, the northern cone Baoziling and two small parasitic volcanoes known as "Volcano Holy Infants", forming a dormant volcano family.
Fengluling crater erupted more than 8,000 years ago and has preserved its complete crater shape. The inner diameter of the volcano is 120 meters and the depth is 60 meters. You can follow the stone steps to the bottom of the crater.
The Ma'anling crater is 222.8 meters above sea level, but it is already the highest peak in northern Hainan. Standing here, you can have a panoramic view of the entire city of Haikou.
There is a wonderful and moving story about Ma'anling circulating in the local area:
A long time ago, a fairy descended to earth and married Chun Teng, a hardworking and simple farmer. The vicious God of Fire found out and imprisoned the fairy in a volcanic cave. Chun Teng was determined to fight the God of Fire to put out the fire and save his wife. He practiced kung fu in the valley every day, calling the wind and rain, and his voice resounded through the sky. Chun Teng's actions moved the Jade Emperor and the gods. The Jade Emperor sent a god to teach him magic to deal with the God of Fire; the Mountain God used two mountains to make two water jars, and pulled up a towering precious tree to make a shoulder pole, and gave them to Chun Teng; the Wind and Rain God guided Chun Teng to the source of water. Chun Teng carried the water from two pools and four ponds back to Ma'anling, but the God of Fire found out and cast a spell to make Chun Teng unable to carry the two jars of water. Chun Teng was quick-witted and kicked the pole away. The pole landed smoothly on the ground and turned into a mountain ridge shaped like the Chinese character "一", which just pressed down the neck of the God of Fire. He kicked the water jar with his other foot, and suddenly a storm came. He subdued the God of Fire and rescued the fairy. From then on, the area was peaceful and everything grew. Later, the two water jars turned into two mountains, which is today's Ma'anling.
The scenery is really nice, but the stairs up and down the crater are a bit steep. It's a bit strenuous for the elderly, but it's unique to Haikou and worth a visit.
There are more tours going to the crater now than before. The dispatcher said that there is one bus every hour, and you can return before 16:00. I took the first bus to go and the bus returned at 11:30.
There is a direct bus from Wanlv Park, and it is the same bus for round trip. The geological park is not very big and has many green plants.
I have to say that the altitude of Haikou is really low, with the highest altitude being only over 200 meters. This is a volcano that erupted hundreds of millions of years ago. Along the way, you can see many stones introducing volcanoes.
The scenery is average, but there is a very nice coconut grove.
I went there with a friend and brought a doll. We played for 6 hours. Haha, but it only took an hour to finish.
Stop 80: Leiqiong Geological World Park in Haikou. AAAA, 60 yuan ticket, no inspection required. Da Wa has said many times that he wants to come and see it, but the time is not right. Today, the weather is cool and it is just right for us to come here. This time, I carefully studied and visited the science museum and found that there is a layer of accumulation of blue-black stone eggs in the exhibits. They all contain circles of different sizes and densities. The guide said that these stones still gather amazing energy like rocks deep in the earth's crust. If they are exposed to the sun for two or three years, the originally hard stones will immediately break into a pool of slag-like sand due to the sudden release of stress. It seems that everything is the same. If it is a person, he loses the strong support of spiritual will and relies only on the physiological maintenance of bones and flesh. At best, he is just an animal individual in the biological sense.
The scenery of the countryside, you can learn about the culture of the crater
It is not as spectacular as Changbai Mountain, not as beautiful as Arshan Mountain, not as turbulent as Wudalianchi Mountain, and its reputation is even humbler, but it has its own unique elegance. The volcano is not high, but it is full of greenery and very comfortable; you can enter the crater and feel the magic in person.
It's worth a visit. Many children go to the park on weekends.
Leiqiong Haikou Volcano Group World Geopark is located in Shishan Town and Yongxing Town in the southwest of Haikou, about 15km from the city center. The park covers an area of 118 km2.
The park has more than 40 Quaternary volcanoes, with diverse types, rich lava landscapes and peculiar lava tunnels, which are truly rare volcanic wonders.
The volcanoes from ten thousand years ago, the millennium volcanic stone culture and the tropical ecological vegetation communities are integrated to form a geological park with tropical urban volcanic ecology and culture as its connotation.
It takes 2 hours to walk down the entire volcano, so be prepared for climbing and sun protection.
If you want to take photos and rest, it will take 3 hours.
It's OK. The gentle climb is suitable for the elderly. The trees are dense and cool, and it's green like a big botanical garden. There is a volcano science museum where you can take a closer look. There are few people and it's very comfortable.
Volcano Geological Park, I feel that if you just want to see the scenery, it is not suitable to come here, because after all, the scenery in many parks in Haikou is much better than here. But if you are interested in geology or have some knowledge of it, you can go and have a look. It is very beautiful to go down to the bottom of the crater. This is said to be the highest peak in Haikou, but people from the north said that they reached the top of the mountain before they climbed much. Don't buy tickets at the scenic spot, compare many websites for more discounts.
The air in the crater is very fresh, but it's too troublesome to go there. You can take the bus 🚌 to get off at Shiziling Station and wait for a while. There will be a private three-wheeled vehicle to pick up tourists to the entrance of the crater (don't walk too far!) It's about 5 yuan/person. The crater student card is half price. The scenery is average
Leiqiong Address Park is about 20 kilometers away from the center of Haikou. The park is not big, but the vegetation is lush, especially the banyan trees. The dripping Guanyin is all over the mountain, which is very pleasing to the eye. The crater is just so-so. I, an old lady, climbed up with great effort and was very disappointed. Geologists would not have the same idea as me, but friends who have not been there can go and see it. It is the kind of place where you will regret not going and regret going.

The view from the top of the mountain is great. It is over 200 meters high, the highest peak. You can't go into the bottom of the pit. It would be nice if the hole under the crater was also open. I have to say it is very cool inside the pit! It's like having an air conditioner!
The Crater Geopark is definitely worth a visit. It has gentle slopes that are manageable for both the elderly and children. It is suitable for a family outing, where you can take photos, see the scenery, and learn knowledge. It's great!

Transportation is not very convenient, only taxis and tourist bus routes are limited. However, the scenery of the park is pretty good. Unfortunately, I thought it was a group of volcanoes and caves before I came here, but when I arrived, I found out that it was divided into multiple attractions, and I had to buy tickets separately, and there were certain distances between them.
very beautiful
There are a lot of green plants, which can be regarded as a green oxygen bar~
Haikou local ID card 35 (student ID 35), seniors over 70 years old free, ticket office phone: 0898-65469666
You can take a taxi to the intersection first, then take a tricycle to get inside (there were four of us, and each person paid 3 yuan, which is more cost-effective than taking a taxi. The starting price for a taxi in Haikou is 10 yuan)
You can go climbing, there are many places to rest in the scenic spot (don’t think that some rest areas are in the store, but they are all free)
Things in the scenic spot are a bit expensive, a bottle of mineral water is 5 yuan (I feel that mineral water in scenic spots across the country is 5 yuan...)
Too lazy to write~~~
The park is still very beautiful and has its own characteristics, but it is not too big and can be walked around in a short while, or an hour or two if you are fast. It is full of trees, rocks, leftover lava, and a crater. Maybe we went at the wrong time and the fruits were not ripe yet, so we didn't see any fruits or flowers, but it's still worth a visit.
It seems that the ticket price was 30 yuan when I went there, and then they would take a small photo for free and take it away when you leave. The small photo was very blurry, and if you want a large photo you have to pay extra. It was my first time to go to this kind of park, it was quite novel, and there were all kinds of volcanic rocks along the way, which was pretty good
It was the first time I saw volcanic rocks. Here you can see the highest point in Haikou, 200 meters above sea level. There are many tropical vegetation in the forest park. I also saw wild pineapples for the first time. I saw coffee beans for the first time. Many primary school students use this place as a popular science learning base. It is very lively. It is worth recommending when you go to Haikou.
It's not bad. In fact, what attracts people is the lush tropical plants in the crater. If you are interested in volcanic rocks, I personally think it is better to go to Wudalianchi. The vegetation in the crater here is relatively rich. For northerners, tropical plants and fruit trees are still very cute.
Haikou Volcanoes World Geopark is located in Shishan Town, southwest of Haikou City, only 15 kilometers away from the urban area. There are more than 40 Quaternary volcanoes in the park, which can be called a natural geological museum. It is also the commanding height of Haikou City. It is the first world-class tourist attraction in Hainan Province confirmed by UNESCO with outstanding and important value. It is a multifunctional park integrating volcano sightseeing and exploration, volcanic ecology and volcanic culture appreciation. It is a must-see attraction in Haikou. It is worth recommending.
It is worthy of being called the World Geopark, the only place in Haikou worth visiting, a place that cannot be replicated!
The first time I went there was because of the convenient transportation and it was not close to the city. It was only after I arrived at the crater that I felt that the trip was worth it. The environment is very good and the volcano is still in its original state. It is very magical and shocking. It is the wonder of nature. It would be a pity if I didn’t see it.
I have been there several times. It is not just a tourist attraction. It is enough to visit one of the ordinary tourist attractions. The crater is also a place for leisure. Friends will choose this place for gatherings and dinners. There is fun, food, and fitness. It is a must-go when you come to Haikou!
The well-preserved volcanic geological park is comparable to Yellowstone Park.
Tickets are 60 yuan, and student tickets are 30 yuan. There are two volcano science museums at the foot of the mountain. The buildings are in line with the temperament of volcanic rocks. There is an introduction to the basic knowledge of volcanoes. I have to say that the environment of the crater is first-class. There are flying butterflies everywhere, with different colors and shapes. It feels like a butterfly valley. There are also many dragonflies dancing under the scorching sun. Entering the Huoluling crater is like entering an air-conditioned room. It is super cool. Nature is so magical.
Leiqiong Haikou Volcano Group World Geopark is about 20 kilometers away from the city, suitable for taxi or self-driving. It is one of the few dormant volcanoes in China that has erupted in the Holocene (10,000 years ago), and is also one of the most well-preserved dormant craters in the world. When you enter the Geopark, you can see an art garden with various peculiar root carvings, which turned out to be the roots of precious tree species, rooted in the volcanic lava zone. Thousands of years later, the root carvings were formed by cleaning the old tree roots.
Before arriving at the Volcano Geopark, I was very curious about the volcano. I had imagined what it looked like many times in my mind. This time, standing on the crater at such a close distance, I didn’t feel much wonder or surprise. It looked like a big pit in the middle of a mountain, full of unknown weeds and various small bushes... But on the other hand, we cannot but admit that the geological background it possesses can provide great value, whether in terms of ecological value or historical and cultural value, and this is the foundation that we must respect and protect.
