The Five Lords Temple is a group of ancient buildings built to commemorate five historical officials who were exiled to Hainan Island during the Tang and Song dynasties. The Five Lords are: Li Deyu of the Tang Dynasty, Li Gang, Zhao Ding, Li Guang, and Hu Quan of the Song Dynasty. The Five Lords Temple has an elegant environment, antique buildings, pebbled roads, towering ancient trees, famous flowers on both sides of the road, and fragrant aroma. It is known as the "Qiongtai Scenic Spot". The main buildings include: Hainan First Building (also known as the Five Lords Temple), Xuepu Hall, Guanjia Hall, West House, East House, Su Gong Temple, Liang Fubo Temple, Dongzhuo Pavilion, Fusu Spring, Qiong Garden, etc.

Wugong Temple is located in Qiongshan District, Haikou City, close to the East Bus Station. It is a group of ancient buildings, including Wugong Temple, Sugong Temple, Guanjia Hall, Xuepu Hall, Wugong Jingshe, Qiongyuan, etc.

The Temple of Five Lords was first built during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty, and was rebuilt in the 15th year of the Guangxu Period of the Qing Dynasty (1889 AD). It has been renovated many times since then. In 2001, the Temple of Five Lords was selected as a national key cultural relic protection site.

The main building of Wugong Temple is known as "the first building in Hainan" and "the greenery of the Holy Temple" is known as one of the eight scenic spots in Hainan.

The Wugong Temple was built to commemorate five famous historical figures who were exiled to Hainan Island during the Tang and Song dynasties: Li Deyu, a famous prime minister of the Tang Dynasty, Li Gang, Li Guang, Zhao Ding, and Hu Quan, a famous minister of the Song Dynasty. How difficult was it to travel 2,000 kilometers from the capital of the Song Dynasty to Hainan?

Li Deyu served as prime minister twice during the reigns of Emperor Wenzong and Emperor Wuzong of the Tang Dynasty. During his tenure, he controlled eunuchs at home and suppressed the feudal lords abroad, consolidated the central power, and made great contributions to the stability of the country, which temporarily stabilized the situation of internal and external troubles in the late Tang Dynasty. Later, due to the "Niu-Li Party Dispute", he was first demoted to Jingnan, then to Chaozhou, and then to Yazhou (near Dalin Township, Qiongshan District) to serve as Sihu (a minor official in charge of household registration), where he later died. During his time in Hainan, Li Deyu wrote books and articles, rewarded the good and hated the evil, and was highly respected by the people of Hainan. His representative works include "Huichang Yipin Collection", "Zuo'an Book City", "Ci Liushi Jiuwen", etc.

Like Yue Fei, Li Gang, Zhao Ding, Li Guang and Hu Quan were all anti-Jin factions during the Southern Song Dynasty. Li Gang and Zhao Ding were both appointed as prime ministers twice. Li Guang was a councilor during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Song, and Hu Quan was an editor of the Privy Council during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Song. Li Gang and the other four were persecuted by the capitulationists such as Qin Hui during the invasion of the Jin army and were exiled to Hainan. Although these famous officials who were loyal to their country were exiled, they did not lose their loyalty and made great contributions to the local people in terms of promoting local public welfare, spreading the culture of the Central Plains and cultivating talents.

The Su Gong Temple in the scenic area was built to commemorate the great Northern Song Dynasty writer Su Dongpo. The Two Fubo Temples were built to commemorate the two Fubo generals, Lu Bode of the Western Han Dynasty and Ma Yuan of the Eastern Han Dynasty. The Five Gong Temple enshrines five wise ministers, loyal and righteous people who were demoted to Hainan during the Tang and Song dynasties. They are: Li Deyu, Li Gang, Zhao Ding, Hu Quan and Li Guang.

The Temple of Five Lords has a history of nearly a thousand years, and it is rich in cultural connotations and contains profound historical heritage. It is a place of historical interest for a comprehensive understanding of the historical, political and cultural development of Hainan. The reason why the Temple of Five Lords is called the No. 1 Building in Hainan is that the scale of the building and the noble character of the five lords enshrined there were both the best at that time. So if you come to Haikou, you can't miss this place.

Wugong Temple is the birthplace of Hainan's relegated culture. Here you can see the introductions of the five famous historical officials who were demoted, Li Deyu, Li Gang, Li Guang, Zhao Ding and Hu Quan. There is also Sugong Temple in memory of Su Shi. Wugong Temple is next to Haikou Museum and Art Gallery. The ticket is 48 yuan, which includes two performances. When I went there, the performances were monkey shows and folk music. Folk music is ok to listen to, but monkey shows really feel very discordant.

There is a Su Gong Temple in the Wugong Temple, which is dedicated to Su Dongpo, and you can burn incense there. It is said that the Fuli Spring was dug by Su Dongpo when he was exiled to Hainan. It is said that the spring water is sweet, endless, and everlasting. It is the photo below with the reflection of a floating coconut.

The first scenic spot given by the tour guide is the place where most photos are taken because it is fresh.

The place where Mr. Dongpo was exiled has some historical significance. The scenic area is not big and the ticket price is not expensive. I recommend it.

Wugong Temple is located in Haikou City, Hainan Province. It is a collective name for a group of ancient buildings. It consists of Guanjia Hall, Xuepu Hall, and Dongzhai. It is connected with Sugong Temple, Liangfubo Temple and its worship pavilion, Dongzhuo Pavilion, Suquan Pavilion, Xixinxuan, and Youxiandong Xianjin, forming a group of cultural relics and historical sites. People usually call it Wugong Temple. Each monument has its own unique style and forms a coordinated whole, which is a spectacular "Yinghai Humanities". Here, the trees are lush, the water is gurgling, the environment is elegant, and it is full of fun. It is a unique natural landscape. The building area is more than 2,800 square meters, and together with the gardens, wells, and ponds, it covers an area of about 100 acres. It was first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in the 15th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1889). It has been repaired many times since then and is still shining.

Understanding the cultural history of a city is like calling a remote ocean hotline to a "distant girl", asking about each other's well-being and getting to know each other deeply. Then, the Wugong Temple on Haifu Road in Haikou City is a good place to appreciate the culture and development that have influenced the city. When I stepped into the entrance of the Wugong Temple, an enthusiastic Li girl ran to my side, stretched out one hand to my ear, and pinched it hard. Then I realized that this way, she expressed her enthusiasm and love for the distant visitors. The more painful the pinch, the deeper the love.

It is a very suitable place for taking photos. Last time I went there, I heard from my friends that it was suitable for taking photos in ancient costumes. I happened to buy Hanfu, so I went there. The outer wall is bright red, and it looks good no matter how you take pictures. The building has the flavor of an ancient courtyard, and the ticket price is not expensive. If you want to take photos in ancient costumes, don't miss it!

I just wanted to relax and relieve my mood, but after entering, all the bad emotions were completely gone. Immersed in the architecture there, I felt so cozy and comfortable. There were not many people, and it felt like taking a walk in my own home. At that moment, how I wished to live there. Whether it was the stone-paved road or the various plants, they all had their own simple beauty. It was worth the trip. Students can get discounts. I took a lot of pictures, but I can only choose ten to put up. It's just a small place, just a small place. When I sat on the stone steps, I didn't want to leave. I wanted to sit until the evening until dark.

The current Wugong Temple is composed of Guanjia Hall, Xueputang, and Dongzhai, and is connected to Sugong Temple, the Two Fubo Temples and their worship pavilions, Dongzhuo Pavilion, Suquan Pavilion, Xixinxuan, and Youxian Cave, forming a group of cultural relics and historical sites.

It was first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and has been renovated many times. Each part of it has a unique style, with lush trees, gurgling water, and a quiet and elegant environment, which is full of interest.

The ticket is 20 yuan per person, and if you want a guide, it is 30 yuan for half an hour. Except for Li Deyu of the Tang Dynasty, the other four were famous anti-Jin scholars of the Northern Song Dynasty. They came here to commemorate the martyrs and felt a lot of emotion. Going straight out is the Municipal Museum, which is connected to the Five Lords Temple.

A colleague of mine who works in Hainan said that the Haikou Wugong Temple is very famous, but I didn't remember who the "Five Lords" were, so I took advantage of my work to go and see it. The Wugong Temple is located in the urban area of Haikou. It is a national key cultural relic protection unit and a tourist attraction. It refers to a group of buildings including Hainan No. 1 Building (also known as the Wugong Temple), Xuepu Hall, Guanjia Hall, Xizhai (Wugong Jingshe), Dongzhai, Sugong Temple, Liangfubo Temple, Dongzhuo Pavilion, Fusu Spring, and Qiongyuan. The Wugong Temple was originally built as an official place for worshiping sages.

By Bai Eryu |

The small scenes in some places are very delicate, and the five public figures are also worth knowing.

By Dry Skiing |

After checking into the hotel, I asked the front desk: What are the scenic spots in Haikou? Answer: There is only one Five Dukes Temple. The five high officials who were demoted to Hainan were all accomplished people. I only remember: Li Gang (Prime Minister), who had just arrived for only 11 days before he was recalled to the central government for re-employment. Su Shi stayed in Hainan for more than a year. Although they did not stay in Hainan for a long time, they brought advanced ideas and culture from the Central Plains. For example, the Fusu Well was proposed by Su Shi to be dug. There are five statues in the temple with specific records. Very good!

Tickets are 20 yuan. The temple is located in the urban area of Haikou, including: Hainan No. 1 Building (also known as Wugong Temple), Xuepu Hall, Guanjia Hall, Xizhai (Wugong Jingshe), Dongzhai, Sugong Temple, Liangfubo Temple, Dongzhuo Pavilion, Fusu Spring, Qiongyuan and the newly built Wugong Temple Exhibition Hall. "Hainan No. 1 Building" Wugong Temple is a two-story single-style bracket wooden structure, 10 meters high. It was built during the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. Around the building are stone statues of five historical officials who were exiled to Hainan Island during the Tang and Song Dynasties. They are commemorated and admired by people here. Sugong Temple was built by later generations to commemorate Su Shi, a great poet of the Song Dynasty who was exiled to Hainan. It displays precious cultural relics such as Su Dongpo's poems, inscriptions, and springs he dug for the locals. There are gurgling water, lush trees, pavilions and towers, few people and quietness. It is a landscape that integrates nature and humanities, which is very suitable for taking pictures.

By Two-way small ball |

I don't know what the complete Wugong Temple looks like. The Wugong Temple I visited was under renovation and various fences and construction sites seriously damaged the atmosphere. It was hard to find the ancient monument. But it was still open to the public and charged 38 yuan for admission.

Transportation: Bus No. 14, Wugongci Station

In fact, it is a park with historical significance, telling the story of the officials who were demoted from the imperial court. The park is not big, and this attraction is a gift from Haikou to Sanya. It is not very meaningful, just take a look.

By Achilles |

It is the area with the most historical and cultural value in Haikou. It is an ancestral hall built specifically for five politicians from the Tang and Song dynasties. I would like to make it clear that Su Shi is not among these five people.

I bought the ticket online for 17 yuan, but it seems to be 25 yuan now. Fortunately, I saved a few dollars by buying online. The scenic area should have looked good. I went to take some pictures, but half of the park was fenced off for repairs. I could only see the No. 1 Building and a few stone statues. The staff at the door did not inform me in advance. It was abominable! The last picture was under repair. I was depressed!

The tablets of Li Deyu, Li Gang, Zhao Ding, Hu Quan and Li Guang are enshrined in the Wugong Temple. He only knew that there was a country, but not his own body. He was more determined despite all kinds of torture. He worried about his own worries first and then enjoyed his own happiness. I hope that all talents will rise up and live up to this building. This is really what the small Wugong Temple has brought to our descendants. Maybe few people who come here to travel come to Wugong Temple, but this is the place with the richest culture in Hainan.

By Maggie |

When we went there, nearly half of it was under repair, which was a bit disappointing. Fortunately, the ticket was not expensive. There was a memorial to the good prime minister inside, as well as the Su Gong Temple. There wasn't much in the museum, so friends who particularly like history can come and take a look, but those who are short on time don't have to go.

This is the "Five Lords Temple" built in 1889 to commemorate Li Deyu, a famous official of the Tang Dynasty, and Li Gang, Li Guang, Hu Quan and Zhao Ding, famous officials of the Song Dynasty, who were exiled to Hainan Island and spread culture and promoted the development and exchange of Hainan culture. The Five Lords Temple is actually not just five temples, but a collective name for a group of ancient buildings, consisting of Guanjia Hall, Xuepu Hall, and Dongzhai. Located on the riverside on the east side of Haifu Road and Haikou East Bus Station, it is surrounded by high-rise buildings and the scenery is very ordinary. It mainly introduces the Five Lords Temples (Li Deyu, Li Gang, Li Guang, Zhao Ding, Hu Quan, but not Su Dongpo) who were exiled to Hainan in the past dynasties, as well as Su Gong Temple, Two Fubo Temples, Suquan Pavilion, etc. Winter is the peak season and the ticket price is 20 yuan/person. At present, the east side of the scenic spot is under construction. I don’t know whether it is expansion or other. It is recommended not to go to the Five Lords Temple after visiting the Hainan Provincial Museum.

Wugong Temple is located in the center of Haikou City. Wugong Temple is only a part of this scenic spot, and there is also Su Dongpo's temple inside. The real Wugong Temple is mainly a two-story traditional pavilion, which houses the rankings of five historical figures, so it is called Wugong Temple. Wugong Temple does not actually occupy a large area. In addition to the pavilion, there are stone statues of Wugong at the door. The pavilion is divided into two floors. In addition to the public tablets on the first floor, there is nothing on the second floor. There is an ancestral hall next to it, which introduces the history of Hainanese people's migration from the mainland, which is very regional.

Wugong Temple is a temple built by the people of Hainan for five people including Su Shi. There are statues and inscriptions inside. There is no landscape. It is best to rent a guide to explain, otherwise it will be boring.

Wugong Temple is just the ancestral hall for a few people. To be honest, there is nothing much to see. If conditions permit, you can hire a tour guide. The most famous among them is Su Shi. When Su Shi was unsuccessful, he was demoted to Hainan, and it is said that he invented Dongpo Pork here.

There is nothing special about the architecture of Wugong Temple. The only thing worth mentioning is probably the walls which look a bit weathered.

By stevedore |

The Wugong Temple is not big, but it is very quiet and has a good environment. The "First Building in Hainan" inside is really beautiful.

In order to commemorate the five ministers who were demoted to the remote place of Hainan, among whom Su Shi was the most famous, the "First Building in Hainan" in the Five Lords Temple is very beautiful.

By Life is like a dream |

It is worth mentioning that the Wugong Temple is too commercialized. When you enter the gate, they take pictures for you and sell them for 15-20 yuan each. They burn incense and tell fortunes to make money from tourists. On the contrary, the awareness of cultural relics protection is weak, and they are not protected and repaired in time. The entrance of the gate is demolished in a mess, and there is no protection construction, and it is in a state of suspension, which is really unsightly.

Wugong Temple and Hainan Museum are adjacent to each other. The main entrance is being renovated, but for some unknown reason the work has been suspended and the environment is very poor. I hope the relevant departments will improve it as soon as possible.

Su Dongpo was demoted to Hainan in the fourth year of Shaosheng in the Song Dynasty (1097 AD), and lived in Jinsu Temple (now in the Wugong Temple) to preserve the relics; during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, the Sugong Temple was built here for worship. After generations of expansion, in addition to Su Gong, five historical officials of the Tang and Song dynasties who were demoted to Hainan were also worshipped, and the name was changed to "Wugong Temple". This is a cultural relic that displays the culture of ancient Chinese demoted officials, Hainan's history and culture, and ancient architectural art with Hainan characteristics. Together with the gardens, wells, springs, and ponds, it covers an area of about 100 acres.
