Yuanyang Rice Terraces is a large area, with a ticket price of 70 yuan per ticket (free for people over 60 years old), which includes four attractions: Bada, Duoyishu, Laohuzui, and Qingkou Folk Village. Bada and Laohuzui are the best places to watch the sunset, and Duoyishu is the best place to watch the sunrise.

The best time to take photos of the Yuanyang Rice Terraces is from November to April of the following year, because the terraces will be filled with water after the autumn harvest until the rice planting in the following year. At this time, the terraces have a strong sense of layering and sparkle under the sunlight. Many photos of the terraces we see on the Internet were taken during this period. In winter, the undulating terraces appear and disappear in the gaps of the fog, presenting a misty and ink painting-like pastoral scene, which makes you feel like you are in a dreamland.

The inn we stayed in was in Shengcun, which was about 4 kilometers away from the Duoyishu Observation Deck where we could watch the sunrise. It took about an hour to walk there.

I left home at 6:30 in the morning and walked to Duoyishu. It was still dark, so it was best to bring a flashlight.

In February, sunrise is around 7:40.

Duoyishu is the most popular place to watch the sunrise at Yuanyang Rice Terraces. I saw it mentioned in many travel guides before coming here.

If you drive up in the morning, try to get there early, or find a place to park your car when you are close to the Doi Suthep Observation Deck. It would be very frustrating if you are stuck in traffic at Doi Suthep when the sun rises.

The roads in the mountains are not wide to begin with, and traffic jams can easily occur if you park on the side of the road.

When I saw the sun, it was actually already high and bright. So I felt that the sunrise here was not very beautiful. Maybe the photographers wanted the light in the morning, or the equipment technology was different, so the effect was different.

My equipment is not good and my skills are even worse, so I can just take some photos with my phone to leave a true record.

In the early morning, the Doi Yilan trees and the mist filled the sky above the terraced fields. The houses and woods in the distance were a little hazy, and there was an indescribable fairy-like aura all around.

We set off at 6 o'clock, and the place was already crowded by 7 o'clock. However, the fog was still the same as the previous two days, thick and dense with a lingering fragrance.

When it was almost nine o'clock, the fog cleared. The trees appeared and some light was reflected on the water. Master Sun gave a fair comment: "It passed the test."

But I think it's better than a passing grade. Although I saw the terraces for no more than two hours in total in the past few days, the terraces in the clouds and mist really exude spirituality at all times, which is not comparable to the terraces under clear skies.

Yuanyang Rice Terraces, as a farming wonder created by the Hani people over 1,300 years, has been listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site, and the Duoyishu Observation Deck is the best place to view the terraces. Here you can not only enjoy the spectacular terraced scenery, but also feel the strong ethnic cultural atmosphere.

But as soon as I saw today's scenery, I was instantly shocked. A crescent moon hung on the edge of the sunrise glow. It was a rare sight of the sun and the moon shining together. What was even rarer was that a large sea of ​​clouds hung right between the terraces and the sunrise, making the terraces and the sunrise even more beautiful.

The Laoyingzui Rice Terraces are suitable for watching the sunset, while the Duoyishu Rice Terraces are suitable for watching the sunrise. Tickets are required for the Duoyishu Rice Terraces scenic area, but there are 1-2 viewing platforms around, where you can also take pictures. You should also pay attention to the traffic problem. During the "morning rush hour", you need to pay attention to safety when passing other cars.

The blue sky would not be so beautiful without the white clouds. At that time of year, the sunrise at Doi Shu is usually around 7:00 in the morning, and the Doi Shu scenic area normally opens at 6:00, but in order to get a good camera position, we got up at 5:00 and arrived at the entrance of the scenic area at around 5:30. Although we anticipated the crowds we might encounter, when we arrived at the scene, we were still scared by the long line in the dark. We could only follow the line to find the disappeared end of the line.

We finally waited until the doors opened. Fortunately, we had done our homework beforehand. We did not linger on the top rows, but ran straight to the observation deck below. We finally found a suitable camera position in the third row and set up the tripod. All that was left was to wait quietly for the moment when the sun showed a hint of red from the other side of the mountain.

As time goes by, the light in the sky keeps changing, and the color slowly changes from the initial deep blue to different colors such as red and yellow. It's a pity that the light and shadow are fleeting, and the time to record is too short. The conversations around gradually disappear, and what follows is the sound of shutter clicks one after another.

The morning is the beginning of the day. If you want to see the most beautiful sunrise, you have to sacrifice your sleep time. That day we got up at 6:30 in the morning and rushed here - the most suitable place to watch the sunrise in the Hani Terraces Scenic Area.

When we arrived, the outermost layer was already full of people, with all kinds of cameras and long guns, waiting for the most beautiful moment of sunrise. Duoyishu is always shrouded in clouds and mist, and the wonders of the sea of ​​clouds depend on your luck. That day, the sea of ​​clouds was mainly concentrated in the village area on the left, and did not spread to the terraced fields, which was a bit regrettable.

The Duoyishu Terraces are medium-sized, with a high viewing platform and a good view. Tourists usually come here to watch the sunrise. We got up early, but the driver we booked failed to pick us up on time. The hotel security contacted another driver and took a van directly to Duoyishu Terraces. The viewing platform was crowded with people. It was foggy that day, so we had to wait for a long time and were freezing. The sunrise view was obscured by the thick fog, and only a few moments of reflection from the terraces could be seen.

I got up at 6am. Due to the time difference, the sun hadn't come out yet, but there were already many people taking photos on the viewing platform of the inn. In fact, it was unnecessary, because the inn's geographical location was superior (built directly on the edge of the terraced field, facing the valley), and there were many places to take panoramic photos of the place, and there were more beautiful photos when we went down to the fields. On the contrary, due to the same geographical location of the hotel (halfway up the mountain), let alone the viewing platform, even if we climbed up to the antenna of the inn, we couldn't take a panoramic photo of the Duoyishu viewing platform.

Compared to the sunset, the sunrise is more beautiful. The terraced fields are really beautiful.

Because they are often shrouded in fog, the sunrise will form a magnificent spectacle, which is breathtakingly beautiful. This is one of the favorite places for photographers. My friend and I got up early and decided to go to Duoyishu Scenic Area to watch the sunrise. Yunnan sunrise is relatively late. At 7:20, the sun had not yet finished washing. I thought there was no hope, but I was not disappointed. I came mainly for the sea of ​​clouds on the terraces. In an instant, the sun jumped out and gave me a surprise.

A little after eight o'clock, waves of clouds and mist slowly rose from the bottom of the mountain and floated in one direction. The clouds and mist on the mountain and below gathered together and kept changing. It can be said that the clouds and mist flew across. The thin clouds seemed to be coated with a layer of gold under the favor of the sun, letting us know that clouds can also have different colors. The layers of terraced fields were covered by the sea of ​​clouds, looming, as if in a misty fairyland. Those groups and clusters were like dreams and illusions, with a bit of mystery and magic, like a wonderful ink painting of nature.

It's nice to come here to enjoy the terraced scenery that is hard to see in other places if you are not here for photography. It's just that it's not easy to drive here. The altitude here is about 1,800 meters, and it's very cold in the morning and evening with only a single layer of clothing.

It is difficult to tell which inn to choose from Baidu Maps. The viewing point on the map is very good (it is charged by a certain company + government, and the villagers will not benefit from it, so we chose to watch from the side). Directly below this observation point is the Duoyishu Terraces, and directly opposite is the mountain where the sun rises. At sunrise, you can see the reflection of the terraces at the viewing point, which must be very beautiful (the weather must cooperate).

A few hundred meters to the right from the viewing point is the large Duoyishu Village. The inn views here are all on the side, so you can't see the reflection of the terraces in the morning. But you can see the sea of ​​clouds from here. I woke up at 4 a.m. and saw a very thick sea of ​​clouds in the valley. At 7 or 8 a.m., the sea of ​​clouds became lighter, and then rose upwards, which was really beautiful.

There is a square on the right side of the village, and then you will reach the terraced fields. In fact, you can also reach the viewing point by turning left from here and walking towards the viewing point. (ps: There are so many people at the viewing point in the morning.)

We went to eat here at 5:30 pm and were told that it would not open until 6:30 pm. Later we found out that people who had come to watch the sunset started to come back after 7 pm and the restaurant started cooking.

The scenery is like a fairyland, but there are not many viewing platforms. People are so crowded that they quarrel over taking pictures. Tickets are checked at the door, but no staff is seen maintaining order after entering.

The blue terraces are actually when the sunlight on a sunny day shines on the paddy fields between 8:30 and 9:30, the terraces will magically appear a crystal blue color. In the morning, the mist in the ravine has not completely dissipated, and a large area of ​​blue terraces are looming in the mist. With the surrounding villages and trees as a backdrop, the scenery is picturesque, dreamy, and truly beautiful.

I had seen the breathtaking photos of the Hani Fields many years ago and had included it in my travel plan, but it was kept postponed until March of this year. I decided to go almost on a whim and made an appointment with my classmates. We hit it off immediately and realized my wish from many years ago.

There are many vans from the old county town to Duoyishu, 20 per person. I think the most essential part of the Yuanyang Terraces is Duoyishu, but don't go there in February, because to see the terraced fields reflecting the sunrise requires good weather. Instead, it is a good choice to see the green and yellow rice fields in April, May or September and October.

The Duoyishu Observation Deck is open to the public in the afternoon. The blue terraces are very beautiful at this time, and there are usually few people at the observation deck.

Although the weather was not very good, I met an old man who had been taking photos for 21 years. After watching the videos and photos he took, I admired his persistence and perseverance. The terraces are really beautiful, but God played a little joke on us. If you have enough time and have a special liking for the terraces, you might as well stay a few more days. There will always be good weather.

Although it was not as magnificent and beautiful as when the sun was high and the sky was clear, it was as gentle and graceful as a shy girl. I can only say that the terraces here have their own unique styles in spring, summer, autumn and winter, fog, rain, thunder and lightning!

Watching the sunrise at Duoyishu requires luck! It was foggy the day we went there. The fog at the bottom of the mountain was flowing up the mountain, and the fog on the mountain was spreading down. There was no sunrise!

The beauty of sunrise lies not only in the beautiful photos taken by people, but also in overcoming the laziness of getting up early and the hardship of climbing the mountain in the dark. When you get up early, the whole village is dark, and the sky is full of stars. You walk through the village in the dark. The village is on a slope, and the road is crowded but many cars are parked. From time to time, local women and children come out to stop passers-by to sell eggs.



The ticket only goes to the viewing platform, but in fact you can see the terraces and sunrise from many high places in the village.



The scenic area is too congested, with narrow roads and many cars, and random parking. Uncivilized tourists park their cars on the roadside and leave. I suggest you don't come here. At least don't drive here.

Maybe, "one mountain has four seasons, and the weather is different every mile" is what this place is like. The weather changes very capriciously. But the scenery is really great, and you can take a great picture at any time. There is a blue that cannot be achieved by filters.

The scenic spots of Duoyishu include Duoyishu, Aichun, Dawazha and other continuous terraced fields covering tens of thousands of mu. Duoyishu Scenic Area is the best place to watch the sunrise. I stayed in the K2 Youth Hostel located in Duoyishu Pugao Laozhai. I was lucky enough to have a four-person room with a view on the second floor all to myself. It was quite convenient to climb to the top floor of the hostel to watch the sunrise. Although the sunrise was greatly reduced due to dark clouds, it was still nice to wander around and it was not necessary to see anything.

We found a local driver and tour guide who took us to various terraced field attractions and took us to good photo locations for sunrise and sunset.

The sun may not come out from the top of the mountain after 8 o'clock, but it will turn the clouds red after 7 o'clock.
