Pumen Hall: The main deity is the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, who will grant all wishes and is very effective in seeking marriage.

It is said that if you tell the Bodhisattva your name, birth place and time at the largest Guanyin statue in the main hall of Puji Temple, and then tell Guanyin your wish, your dream will come true within a few months after you return! When you worship, call "the great and merciful Guanyin Bodhisattva who saves the suffering and the distressed with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes."

I didn't find the legendary shuttle bus all the way from the pier to Puji Temple. Most of the buses I saw on the road were chartered by tourist groups. It is known as the three major temples in Putuo Mountain together with Fayu Temple and Huiji Temple, with a construction area of ​​about 11,400 square meters.

As the largest Zen temple in Putuo Mountain, it naturally has a deep connection with Putuo Mountain. It is said that the reason why Putuo Mountain has become a world-famous Buddhist holy land is also related to the establishment of Puji Zen Temple. The temple was first built in the third year of Yuanfeng in the Northern Song Dynasty (1080 AD) and was rebuilt on the original site of "Bukenqu Guanyinyuan". Due to repeated harassment by Japanese pirates and Dutch invaders, the temple experienced three rises and falls during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

There is an imperial stele pavilion in front of the main gate of Puji Temple, which was built in the 9th year of Yongzheng's reign (1731 AD). If you want to have vegetarian food, it is best to arrive here before 10 o'clock. Although the prices of the restaurant next door are very expensive (about 20 yuan per dish is a scenic spot premium), the store decoration, service and taste are all good.

Transportation: There are buses from Shenjiamen to Wugongshi Wharf. The boat ticket is 16 yuan. It is a two-story boat and takes about half an hour to reach Putuo Mountain. There is a fast boat from Shanghai to Putuo Mountain, but those who are prone to seasickness should choose carefully. There is also a night boat from Shanghai to Putuo Mountain. The price is not expensive and you can save a night's accommodation. There are scenic area buses from Putuo Mountain Wharf to here, ranging from 3 to 7 yuan, depending on the distance. In fact, the bus is a bit expensive because it really doesn't take long to get to the place. If you have enough time, it is better to walk.

Puji Temple is very popular with incense. It is not recommended to bring too many incense sticks. There is a sign at the door that roughly requires three sticks. There are special areas on both sides of the main entrance to store the incense you bring. Visitors are very orderly. There are monks who remind you to take it without putting it. There is a lotus pond and an octagonal pavilion at the entrance of Puji Temple, which are worth seeing. In addition, the main halls in the temple are very special in terms of architectural style and structure. They are large in scale and have small bridges. The external landscape is open and can be visited at will. There are fish in the pond. There is a small supermarket nearby. Mineral water is 2 yuan, which is not expensive. Accommodation is also relatively concentrated. The price is not as expensive as Nansha, but it can save a day's ticket.

There is a sign on the side that there is a cafeteria in Puji Temple. The price is not expensive, 10 yuan per person. It looks light, but the taste is very good. There are vegetables and tofu, and you can have more rice. It is a very cost-effective place to eat in Putuo Mountain.

Putuo Temple is the last temple in Putuo Mountain. You must visit Putuo Temple when you go to Putuo Scenic Area. You can take a boat from Zhujiajian Island in Zhoushan City or Banshengdong Wharf in Shenjiamen to Putuo Mountain Scenic Area. It takes about 40 minutes. There are ordinary large ships and speedboats, all of which are formally operated. When you get ashore, you will see the ticket office of Putuo Mountain Scenic Area. You can only go to the island after buying a ticket. There is a scenic bus on the right hand side of the ticket office after checking in. It usually costs 5 yuan per person. Go to various scenic spots in the scenic area and find the one to Putuo Temple. It takes only 7-8 minutes to drive there. If you walk, it will take about 25-30 minutes. If you have poor legs and feet, it is recommended to take a minibus.



Putuo Temple charges incense money separately. Each scenic spot in Putuo Mountain charges incense money separately, so it is not a pass system. The 140 ticket for Putuo Scenic Area is just a ticket. The official suggestion for visiting Putuo Temple is Haiyin Pool - Mountain Gate - Imperial Monument Hall - Bell and Drum Tower - Heavenly King Hall - Dayuantong Hall - Dharma Hall - Abbot Hall - Merit Hall - Vegetarian Hall, Monk's House. This temple is the oldest and largest temple. Some important activities are held here. The temple was built by taking advantage of the mountain, but most of it is flat. Puji Temple has early morning classes very early from 3:40 to 4:30. The normal opening hours of the temple are 6:00-21:00, which is plenty of time, but you can't leave too late. After all, the boat from Putuo Mountain to Zhoushan can't arrive so late, unless you stay overnight. There are many monks around Putuo Temple. They usually give people good deeds near the temple. Remember to be careful to salute when you meet the master along the way. In addition, the temple also has vegetarian meals, which seem to be not expensive, but the specific price is unknown.
