Puji Temple, also known as Qian Temple, is the oldest temple in Putuo Mountain and also the largest temple in Putuo Mountain. All major Buddhist activities are held here.
The whole temple is built in a relatively wide and flat area. The water in the pond in front of the temple is accumulated by mountain springs. The pond is full of lotus pods. In summer, the lotus fragrance is overwhelming. This is the Lotus Pond Night Moon, one of the 12 scenic spots of Putuo.
There is a stone pagoda next to Puji Temple - Duobao Pagoda, which is the oldest building in Puji Temple. Although it cannot be viewed up close due to the courtyard wall, it is one of the three treasures of Putuo.

The guide said that there are vegetarian meals in Puji Temple, so I went to eat at my favorite part! The lunch and dinner coupons are 10 yuan, which is economical and healthy.
It was already late when we arrived, and only the bottom of the pot was left of the food, but we were still very satisfied with the meal. There was a sign on the table saying "Wash your own dishes after dinner", which was very eye-catching.
Puji Temple, also known as the "front temple", is the largest and the largest temple in Putuo Mountain. All major Buddhist activities are held here, and it is the most popular and popular. Next to Puji Temple is a stone pagoda - Duobao Pagoda, which is the oldest building in Puji Temple and one of the three treasures of Putuo.
After entering Puji Temple, you can see Yuantong Hall, with Manjusri Hall and Samantabhadra Hall on the left and right. Then there is Daxiong Hall, with Ksitigarbha Hall and Pumen Hall on the two sides. Finally, there are Galan Hall and Weituo Hall.
Yuantong Hall: The main offering is the real Guanyin, praying for the well-being of the whole family (male Guanyin), and making great wishes. When worshiping, say "Namo Guanshiyin Bodhisattva"
Manjusri Hall: Mainly dedicated to Manjusri Bodhisattva, praying for learning and wisdom. When worshiping, chant "Namo Manjusri Bodhisattva"
Samantabhadra Hall: The main offering is to Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, praying for a smooth career. When worshipping, chant "Namo Samantabhadra Bodhisattva"
Main Hall: The main offerings are the Buddha of the Three Worlds (Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, Medicine Buddha), and the main purpose is to pray for the safety of the family. When worshiping, call "Nano Buddha of the Three Worlds"
Ksitigarbha Hall: The main offering is to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, praying for the health of the elders and the early rebirth of the deceased in paradise. Originally ranked sixth, it is just the first of the hundred virtues of filial piety. When worshiping, call "Nano Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva"
Pumen Hall: The main deity is the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, who will grant all wishes and is very effective in seeking marriage.
It is said that if you tell the Bodhisattva your name, birth place and time at the largest Guanyin statue in the main hall of Puji Temple, and then tell Guanyin your wish, your dream will come true within a few months after you return! When you worship, call "the great and merciful Guanyin Bodhisattva who saves the suffering and the distressed with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes."
The main offering is to the Bodhisattva Kalan, and the main purpose is to pray for wealth. When worshiping, call "Nano Kalan Bodhisattva"
Sanzhou Ganying Hall (behind the Tianwang Hall): Mainly dedicated to Bodhisattva Weituo, praying for peace in the home. When worshipping, call out "Nano Weituo Bodhisattva"
I didn't find the legendary shuttle bus all the way from the pier to Puji Temple. Most of the buses I saw on the road were chartered by tourist groups. Although Puji Temple is not far away, it is enough for my current physical strength. There are some small kiosks selling things on the road, including a small kiosk where you can print a map. Just like the hand-painted map of Ningbo, you can scan the QR code and get a map in minutes. Although it is not very detailed, it is better than nothing.
Puji Temple, also known as the "front temple", is the largest temple in Putuo Mountain dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. It is a typical representative of Chinese temple architecture and an important relic of official architecture in Zhejiang Province during the Qing Dynasty. It is also the largest temple in Putuo Mountain. All major Buddhist activities are held here, and it is also the most popular. The entire temple was built in a relatively wide and flat area on the mountain. It is the easiest large temple to reach after landing at the dock. Puji Temple should be said to be the most unmissable place in Putuo Mountain. I have also been to many large temples in China, and this one really has the style of a large temple.
Puji Temple, commonly known as Qian Temple, was founded in 916. It was repeatedly rebuilt and destroyed. In the 28th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1689), Emperor Kangxi issued an edict to rebuild the temple during his southern tour. Later, he gave it the inscription "Puji Qunling", which gave it the name. Puji Temple is the main temple dedicated to Guanyin in Putuo Mountain and the center of Buddhist activities in Putuo Mountain. All major Buddhist activities are held here. There is an ancient camphor tree in the temple that is more than 600 years old.
It is worthy of being the largest temple in Putuo Mountain... It is very good
2010.10.4 The second stop of the Putuo Mountain trip was Puji Temple, where the scenery was beautiful and the architecture was very historical;
The largest temple in the whole mountain, I have been eating and staying here for the past few days. Guanyin in Yuantong Hall is very compassionate.
One of the three major temples in Putuo Mountain, it is crowded with people and has a lot of incense. It is located in the center of Putuo Mountain.
The scenery of Putuo Mountain is really nice, but the food is a bit expensive!
The weather was nice. There were a lot of people. Water and drinks were expensive. 15/bottle. I suggest you bring your own.
Putuo Mountain is the first choice for worshipping Buddha. It is recommended to go there early in the morning.
There are many people, it is a must-visit temple when visiting Putuo Mountain
Puji Temple is the main scenic spot of Putuo Mountain. Puji Temple is the center of Buddhist activities in Putuo Mountain. It is the main temple dedicated to Guanyin in Putuo Mountain. All major Buddhist activities are held here. The temple fairs are held on February 19, June 19, and September 19 of the lunar calendar. It may be more interesting to go at this time.
There is a large lotus pond at the entrance of Puji Temple, and there are thousand-year-old trees surrounding the temple. The trunk of the camphor tree is very thick, about 1.5 meters in diameter, and it takes three people to hug it. Its branches and main trunks are covered with ivy, which sets off the longevity and mystery of the ancient temple. Entering the ancient temple, there is another smoky atmosphere, but against the backdrop of the smoky atmosphere, the ancient temple looks more majestic. The exterior walls of the ancient temple are all earthy yellow, and the roof of the flying eaves and brackets is golden yellow, which is slightly royal. Puji Temple was built in the Five Dynasties, more than 1,100 years ago, with a magnificent scale and solemn momentum. The temple has an incense burner, about 3-4 meters high, with several holes on it. Pilgrims keep throwing coins into it, and I also helped my mother solve her coin bag. This way of praying is still not recommended.
I don't know where the inspiration comes from. I have thought about coming to Putuo Mountain many times. During festivals, there are crowds of people, and you can still feel the charm of the ancient temple. The trees are dense, and the lotus pond is quiet. I can't help but be grateful for all the good and bad existences.
I personally like Puji Temple the most, not because of its large size or beautiful architecture, but because of the Guanyin statue in the main hall and the botanical garden at the entrance.
I saw many people rushing around to worship Buddha, and there were few people stopping in the huge botanical garden. Around 6 o'clock, the place was crowded with people coming and going.
A must-visit. It is much better than the other two temples in terms of scale and scenery. Of course, its popularity is also top-notch!
People who go to Putuo Mountain every day can use the Putuo Mountain charter service. You don't have to waste too much time on the tour. We provide a full-time car pick-up service. If you need to contact QQ471620061
October 16, 2016 Puji Temple is the main temple dedicated to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva in Putuo Mountain. It is located at the foot of Lingjiu Peak and is also known as the Front Temple. It is known as the three major temples in Putuo Mountain together with Fayu Temple and Huiji Temple, with a construction area of about 11,400 square meters.
As the largest Zen temple in Putuo Mountain, it naturally has a deep connection with Putuo Mountain. It is said that the reason why Putuo Mountain has become a world-famous Buddhist holy land is also related to the establishment of Puji Zen Temple. The temple was first built in the third year of Yuanfeng in the Northern Song Dynasty (1080 AD) and was rebuilt on the original site of "Bukenqu Guanyinyuan". Due to repeated harassment by Japanese pirates and Dutch invaders, the temple experienced three rises and falls during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
There is an imperial stele pavilion in front of the main gate of Puji Temple, which was built in the 9th year of Yongzheng's reign (1731 AD). It is covered with yellow glazed tiles and has a white marble stele inside. It is 3 meters high and 1.5 meters wide. A coiled dragon is carved on the top of the stele. The inscription details the construction of Puji Zen Temple in that year. This is the highest specification and best quality stele in Putuo Mountain. The calligraphy and stone carving on the stele are known as "double wonders".
The lotus pond in front of the mountain gate of Puji Temple cannot be ignored. The lotus pond is one of the twelve scenic spots of Putuo Mountain, "Lotus Pond Night Moon". The pond was called "Haiyin Pond" in ancient times. It was originally a place for monks to release animals. Later, it was named "Lotus Pond" because of the planting of lotus. It and the Yongshou Bridge on one side are both Ming Dynasty buildings.
We arrived at the temple at noon, so we had the experience of eating vegetarian food: lunch time is 10:30-11:30; dinner time is 16:30-17:30. The price of lunch and dinner in Puji Temple is 10 yuan. The vegetarian meal is for eight people at a table, and the meal is served with five dishes and one soup. There is no limit on rice and soup. You must buy a meal ticket at the entrance of the vegetarian hall before eating.
Puji Temple is the largest temple on Mount Putuo, and is very popular. The scenery in front of the temple is also very beautiful, with the pavilion, pond and bridge complementing each other. It happened to be a light rain, and there was a special tranquil scene.
The largest temple in Putuo Mountain, it is one of the must-visit temples for tourists to burn incense and worship Buddha.
The most popular temple in Putuo Mountain is also called the Front Temple. When there are not many tourists in the morning and evening, the temple is full of towering ancient trees and fragrant clouds, making it quite peaceful to wander around.
It was my first time here, so I joined a tour group because I didn't know how to pray. I can buy tickets faster with a tour group. The route is planned by the tour guide. It's a bit rushed, but it's very convenient! But! Just listen to what the tour guide says about money! There are incense sticks for sale in the temple! Only 30! The tour guide will work with local merchants to ask you to buy incense sticks that are 3 times more expensive! Even though I have consulted in advance and know their routines! But because time is very tight! I am afraid of delaying the subsequent itinerary and I can't find incense sticks to buy, so I have to buy incense sticks and blessing belts outside, but it also cost nearly 200 yuan!
The first of the three major temples in Putuo Mountain. It is the place with the most tourists and the most incense, but it has an indescribable sense of tranquility and sacredness. It is a must-see attraction when visiting Putuo Mountain.
The pond at the entrance of Puji Temple is very beautiful, but I didn't go in even though I needed a ticket.
The largest temple in Putuo Mountain, with the most incense, the main gate is not open. Next to it is the Haiyin Pond and the Imperial Stele. A little further away is the most authentic Putuo Mountain brand Guanyin Cake, and then you will reach the Duobao Pagoda, one of the three treasures of Putuo.
journey:
Day 1 (2017.4.5) Chengdu-Ningbo-Putuo Mountain, Nanhai Guanyin, Duangu Daotou
Day 2 (April 6, 2017) Huiji Temple - Fayu Temple - Putuo Temple - Zizhulin (including Zizhulin, Bukenqu Guanyin Temple, Chaoyin Cave) - Nantianmen
We were so excited that we took a detour. The correct order should be: Huiji Temple - Putuo Lecture Temple - Fayu Temple - Zizhulin - Nantianmen. Huiji Temple and Putuo Lecture Temple should be visited together.
Day 3 (April 7, 2017) Xitian Scenic Area (Heart Stone, Yuantong Zen Forest, Meifu Zen Temple, Pantuo Stone, Two Tortoises Listening to Dharma Stone, Guanyin Ancient Cave) - Puji Temple - Baibusha
Let me tell you, Mount Putuo is actually very simple. The most important things are the Nanhai Guanyin and the three major temples. This is the route usually taken for a one-day tour.
If we want to play carefully, we can divide it into several large blocks.
1. On the mountain: Foding Mountain, Huiji Temple, Baotuojiang Temple
2. Halfway up the mountain: Fayu Temple and Yangzhi Zen Temple
3. Foot of the mountain: Puji Temple, Duobao Pagoda, Nanhai Guanyin, Purple Bamboo Forest, Baibusha
4. Others: Xitian Scenic Area requires climbing, but this section is a place with excellent scenery and air in Putuo. There are many good and interesting small temples and stones. It is highly recommended.
Note:
1. The three major temples in Putuo: Huiji Temple, Fayu Temple (Royal Temple), Puji Temple (the largest temple in Putuo Mountain)
2. The Three Treasures of Putuo: Nine-Dragon Algae Ceiling (Fayu Temple), Yan Liben’s Guanyin Rubbings (Yangzhi Monastery), Duobao Pagoda (near Puji Temple)
(If you are interested in the Nine Dragons caisson, you can watch CCTV's Putuo Ancient Charm - Thousands of Miles to the Nine Dragons Hall)
3. Three Putuo Stones: Pantuo Stone, Heart Stone, Two Tortoises Listening to the Dharma Stone (Xitian Scenic Area)
3. The only naturally growing hornbeam in the world: on the mountain, near Huiji Temple
stay:
Don't go to Mount Putuo on holidays, weekends, or during the Guanyin Incense Festival three times a year (i.e., February 19, June 19, and September 19 of the lunar calendar). Accommodation prices are twice as high on weekends, three times as high on holidays, and 10 times as high on Guanyin Incense Festivals -- I'm not kidding.
Usually people choose to live in Xishan District 1 and Xishan District 2. Living in Xishan District 1 is close to the pier, that is, close to the transportation station, suitable for traveling by car; living in Xishan District 2, transportation is not convenient, but it is very close to Xitian Scenic Area and Puji Temple, and you can walk there. Price: Xishan District 1 is more expensive than Xishan District 2. The prime location of Xishan District 1 where we live is very close to the pier. The standard room is 200 yuan, which is a special price. Usually, it is more than 200 yuan; in Xishan District 2, it is more than 100 yuan. But the most expensive is Longwan New Village. It is said that the rooms there can see the sea view and are close to the pier. This is just what I say on the Internet. I have not experienced it myself, so I write it down for your reference.
Puji Temple is full of incense and the trees are lush and green. You can do Buddhist rituals and attend the masters' evening classes in the afternoon.
It is one of the must-visit temples with strong incense and rich culture.
Puji Temple is the center of Buddhist activities in Putuo Mountain, where all major Buddhist activities are held. Puji Temple was first built in the Song Dynasty and is the main temple dedicated to Guanyin in Putuo Mountain. Puji Temple is one of the three major temples in Putuo Mountain, a famous Buddhist holy place in China. It is unique in planning, layout and architectural design. It is a typical representative of Chinese temple architecture and an important relic of official architecture in Zhejiang Province during the Qing Dynasty. It has high historical, cultural and artistic value.
Although there were more people during the May Day holiday, it couldn't conceal the charm of this place at all.
The first place to worship Buddha is Puji Temple, one of the three major temples
There is a "Haiyin Pond" in front of the temple; "Lotus Pond Moon Night" refers to this place.
It is one of the twelve scenic spots of Mount Putuo; it is also known as the "Lotus Pond" (releasing pond).
After worshipping Buddha at Puji Temple, there are three bridges outside the gate.
It is said that they represent fortune, wealth and longevity, and walking on any of these bridges will bring good luck.
There are stone benches on the bridge where you can sit and look at the surrounding scenery.
Quietly enjoying the breeze and the chirping of birds in the forest, it is quite pleasant~
This temple is probably the most famous temple in Putuo Mountain. It is said that the emperor of the Qing Dynasty once lived there. It is relatively large in scale, but relatively speaking, it is not as worth seeing as Fayu Temple.
The ancient temple, which has been passed down for thousands of years, is full of historical atmosphere. However, the unique existence of the temple adds a quiet and solemn color to it.
Puji Temple is also called the front temple in Putuo Mountain. It is the largest temple in Putuo. It echoes the "back temple" Fayu Temple in the north and south. Like Wutai Mountain, every temple in Putuo has a story. There are more than ten temples with the same name as Puji Temple in the whole country.
Puji Temple has a long history - it was a holy temple that was frequently visited by emperors of all dynasties.
Puji Temple is visited by many people every year on New Year's Eve. Many people are very pious...
The main hall is the largest of the three temples. The ticket price is 5 yuan. The bridge pavilion in front of the temple is unique.
After worshipping the Nanhai Guanyin statue, we returned to the original route and walked up the mountain. Soon, we saw the road leading to the first large temple in Putuo Mountain, Puji Temple. Puji Temple is very close to the entrance, and tourists here have not been divided yet, so it is the most popular temple we walked down. People are densely packed in the open space in front of the temple to burn incense and worship Buddha. Basically, if you light a stick of incense and bow, you will bump into others. There is also a lake in front of the temple. In the middle of the lake, there is a hexagonal pavilion with a plaque reading "The Moon Sea is Always Shining"; there is also a stone bridge, which looks very similar to the Broken Bridge in West Lake.
If you want to have vegetarian food (usually lunch) at Puji Temple, please note that the vegetarian food here is very early and stops being served at 11:00. If you want to have vegetarian food, it is best to arrive here before 10 o'clock. Although the prices of the restaurant next door are very expensive (about 20 yuan per dish is a scenic spot premium), the store decoration, service and taste are all good.
Magnificent! Buddha's light shines everywhere! Thousand-year-old temple! Wish you peace!
One of the three major temples in Putuo Mountain, it is very popular! The building area is also very large! Must go!
It has a long history and is a place of great patronage, where people worship, pay homage to and respect Buddha.
The old trees are magnificent, the big locust trees are antique, the smoke is lingering, the pious people are beautiful
There were a lot of people near Puji Temple during the day, so I took a quick look outside. When I came back in the evening, there were indeed fewer people, and of course the rituals were over. The quiet temple hall stood under the night sky, peaceful and mysterious.
The environment is very good! Puji Temple is a big temple with a lot of people!
It's a large temple with a lot of people. It seems that you can see 2 squirrels crawling around in the temple. They are so cute.
If you have enough energy (you can walk one bus stop on flat ground), whether you are starting from Financial Street, Nanhai Guanyin or the pier, you can walk to Puji Temple. The bus runs every 25 minutes, and there are so many people lining up!!! It’s actually not that bad to walk there, at most one kilometer, and there are camphor trees along the way, so it’s not too strenuous.
As a non-Buddhist, I can only say that Puji Temple fully demonstrates what it means to be a prosperous temple. When the wind blows, the camphor tree flowers rain down. There are also little squirrels on the branches of the camphor trees at the exit. At first glance, it looks like the nine children on the eaves of the temple are watching the squirrel family, which is very interesting.
Mount Putuo is a famous historical site with great popularity, a must-see attraction.
There are really too many people! Puji Temple can be said to be the largest temple on Putuo Island! The other two temples can't compare in terms of location or scale. The first time I went to Puji Temple was purely to worship the Buddha and burn incense. I prayed very seriously, hoping to bless the people I care about! The second time was after watching the sunrise at Qianbusha, and when I returned again, I found that there were many people waiting at the door of Puji Temple, all ready to burn the first incense! From time to time, someone came to sell turtles for you to release, alas... I can't comment. After the door was opened, I found that many people were already burning incense, maybe they were people who lived in Puji Temple at night! You have to buy incense tickets to enter the door, which is not expensive, just a few dollars. It is quite interesting to eat vegetarian food in Puji Temple. You must be on time, and you must wash the used dishes and chopsticks yourself, but the price is cheap.
The main scenic spot, the Haiyue Changhui where the emperor wrote, is very crowded. But the temple itself is very beautiful, with a busy ancient street and an artificial pond next to it. There should be many lotus flowers in the summer, which is even more beautiful.
It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the pier to Puji Temple. There are Putuoshan buses that can go there directly. I had 2 vegetarian meals there. See the picture for the time of vegetarian meals. If you want to eat vegetarian meals, don't miss the time. After eating vegetarian meals, you need to wash the dishes yourself, which is also a good deed. Everyone must wash them clean because they will be directly given to the pilgrims behind to eat vegetarian meals. Of course, the bowls you eat vegetarian meals in are also washed by the pilgrims in front, so everyone must wash them clean.
My childhood memories are of temples with few people, very quiet and clean. Compared with now, it was really a pure place for Buddhism. Now it is a tourist attraction and a place of pilgrimage for all Buddhists, very lively.
Puji Temple is very large and magnificent. The things in the Dharma Distribution Office are not expensive. The little squirrels are not afraid of people at all.
Located in the largest temple on Mount Putuo, there are many scenic spots and temples on Mount Putuo. It is recommended to stay in the scenic area and find a place with a good location. Mount Putuo is too big. There are many places that you can't see even if you drive back and forth in a day. In addition, there are beaches on Mount Putuo, Baibusha and Qianbusha are worth seeing. Puji Temple has a beautiful appearance. It is an area with water, pavilions and temples. The proportion of gold in the building is relatively large, which is very grand.
The ticket is 5 yuan, but the ticket to Putuo Mountain is more expensive, 160 in peak season, 140 in off-season, 70 for students, and the peak season ticket price will be applied on the first and fifteenth days of the lunar month.
Transportation: There are buses from Shenjiamen to Wugongshi Wharf. The boat ticket is 16 yuan. It is a two-story boat and takes about half an hour to reach Putuo Mountain. There is a fast boat from Shanghai to Putuo Mountain, but those who are prone to seasickness should choose carefully. There is also a night boat from Shanghai to Putuo Mountain. The price is not expensive and you can save a night's accommodation. There are scenic area buses from Putuo Mountain Wharf to here, ranging from 3 to 7 yuan, depending on the distance. In fact, the bus is a bit expensive because it really doesn't take long to get to the place. If you have enough time, it is better to walk.
Puji Temple is very popular with incense. It is not recommended to bring too many incense sticks. There is a sign at the door that roughly requires three sticks. There are special areas on both sides of the main entrance to store the incense you bring. Visitors are very orderly. There are monks who remind you to take it without putting it. There is a lotus pond and an octagonal pavilion at the entrance of Puji Temple, which are worth seeing. In addition, the main halls in the temple are very special in terms of architectural style and structure. They are large in scale and have small bridges. The external landscape is open and can be visited at will. There are fish in the pond. There is a small supermarket nearby. Mineral water is 2 yuan, which is not expensive. Accommodation is also relatively concentrated. The price is not as expensive as Nansha, but it can save a day's ticket.
There is a sign on the side that there is a cafeteria in Puji Temple. The price is not expensive, 10 yuan per person. It looks light, but the taste is very good. There are vegetables and tofu, and you can have more rice. It is a very cost-effective place to eat in Putuo Mountain.
Putuo Temple is the last temple in Putuo Mountain. You must visit Putuo Temple when you go to Putuo Scenic Area. You can take a boat from Zhujiajian Island in Zhoushan City or Banshengdong Wharf in Shenjiamen to Putuo Mountain Scenic Area. It takes about 40 minutes. There are ordinary large ships and speedboats, all of which are formally operated. When you get ashore, you will see the ticket office of Putuo Mountain Scenic Area. You can only go to the island after buying a ticket. There is a scenic bus on the right hand side of the ticket office after checking in. It usually costs 5 yuan per person. Go to various scenic spots in the scenic area and find the one to Putuo Temple. It takes only 7-8 minutes to drive there. If you walk, it will take about 25-30 minutes. If you have poor legs and feet, it is recommended to take a minibus.
Putuo Temple charges incense money separately. Each scenic spot in Putuo Mountain charges incense money separately, so it is not a pass system. The 140 ticket for Putuo Scenic Area is just a ticket. The official suggestion for visiting Putuo Temple is Haiyin Pool - Mountain Gate - Imperial Monument Hall - Bell and Drum Tower - Heavenly King Hall - Dayuantong Hall - Dharma Hall - Abbot Hall - Merit Hall - Vegetarian Hall, Monk's House. This temple is the oldest and largest temple. Some important activities are held here. The temple was built by taking advantage of the mountain, but most of it is flat. Puji Temple has early morning classes very early from 3:40 to 4:30. The normal opening hours of the temple are 6:00-21:00, which is plenty of time, but you can't leave too late. After all, the boat from Putuo Mountain to Zhoushan can't arrive so late, unless you stay overnight. There are many monks around Putuo Temple. They usually give people good deeds near the temple. Remember to be careful to salute when you meet the master along the way. In addition, the temple also has vegetarian meals, which seem to be not expensive, but the specific price is unknown.
The temple only takes one hour to visit. There is a blessing post office next to it where you can mail postcards. Not far away is the Baibusha beach, where you can walk and relax. The whole Putuo Mountain has beautiful scenery. It is cool and quiet in summer. Zhoushan is not very cold in winter, but it is windy, so be careful to protect yourself from the wind.
This is the main hall of Puji Temple, which is equivalent to the main hall of ordinary temples. Puji Temple holds morning prayers in this hall, which can accommodate thousands of people, so it is known as the "living hall". The hall houses the only male Guanyin statue in China; the east and west walls have the 32 manifestations of Guanyin (16 Bodhisattvas in different forms); behind the Guanyin statue is the free Guanyin made of white marble. Pray for peace. Puji Temple is also known as the "Front Temple" and "Baotuo Guanyin Temple". Its predecessor was "Bukenqu Guanyin Temple". This is the main temple of Putuo Mountain, covering an area of more than 37,000 square meters. With Puji Temple as the core, there are Haiyin Pool, Bodhisattva Wall, Wenchang Pavilion, Duobao Tower, Baibusha, Fahua Cave, Xianrenjing, Chaoyang Cave, Chaoyang Pavilion, etc. The opening hours are 05:30-21:00; the ticket price is 5 yuan per person. There are several ancient camphor trees inside, one of which is more than 600 years old. When I was a child, I could see a whole group of squirrels, but I can't see them now. Pilgrims, please note that the ticket checking time for the morning service at Puji Temple is 3:10-4:00. However, no matter how early you get up, there will always be a long queue at the entrance of Puji Temple, remember that it is after 3 am. After the door opens, everyone rushes to grab the futon, and after you grab it, you may not even have a place to put it. During the morning service, follow the monks to worship, and your sincerity will be effective.
Puji Temple, the largest temple in Putuo Mountain, is very popular!
For more strategies, please visit my home: http://www.mafengwo.cn/u/shushengyiqi.html
The core temple is the headquarters, and the other temples are branches. The most popular. The must-see places for a half-day tour of Putuo Mountain
When you come to Mount Putuo to worship, it is one of the must-see attractions.
The largest temple in Putuo Mountain is one of the three major temples. There are so many people.
If you think of it, come to Putuo Mountain, you know 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Puji Temple, commonly known as the Front Temple, is one of the three major temples in Putuo Mountain. It was founded in the Later Liang Dynasty/916 AD. It was rebuilt and destroyed many times. In 1689 AD, Emperor Kangxi issued an edict to rebuild the temple during his southern tour. He also gave it a plaque "Puji Qunling". Since then, it has been called "Puji Zen Temple". Visitors to Puji Zen Temple, I wonder if you have noticed that the roof of the main hall of Puji Temple is built with whole pieces of copper tiles, which is extraordinary.
The incense is very popular and there are many pilgrims, but there is always a sense of commercial atmosphere.
I stayed here for two days. On the first day, I put my luggage on the island. The owners of the farmhouses here are very enthusiastic and will give you maps and travel suggestions. We followed the owner's advice and went to Puji Temple, Fayu Temple, Foding Mountain and Baotuojiang Temple on the first day. The first place we went to was Puji Temple. We walked on the first day. If you have good physical strength, it is recommended to walk. The scenery along the way is very good. In order to protect the environment, there are no private cars on the island. The islanders also ride bicycles, so the air is very good. Although I don’t have any religious beliefs, I really followed the local customs after I came here. When I saw the master, I naturally put my hands together. Maybe because it is at the feet of the Bodhisattva, the residents here are also very good. Although there are many people soliciting business, even if you don’t eat or stay at their house, they will be very enthusiastic to show you the way.
Also, I suggest you don't buy those big incense sticks outside. Three sticks of incense sticks are enough for burning incense and worshiping Buddha (for environmental protection). If you have any beliefs and want to show your piety, don't bring in too big or too thick ones. You are not allowed to bring them in. In addition: You need to buy tickets to go to the island, 140 in the off-season and 160 in the peak season, but it seems that there are only two months of off-season in January and December a year. The ticket does not include the incense and flower coupons of each temple. Incense and flower coupons are similar to the tickets of the temple. There is a place to buy incense at the entrance of each temple. Three sticks for one yuan, which is quite convenient.
It should be noted that you should light incense with your left hand. According to Buddhism, the left hand is pure. There are promotional videos on the boat. But I think it's okay as long as you are sincere. Because there are many temples, I didn't take many photos.
Also, I heard from people here that the vegetarian food in Puji Temple is the most delicious 😂
Puji Temple covers an area of several acres. The temple is divided into two courtyards and was built during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. The entire temple was built in a relatively wide and flat area. There are two famous Yunnan cherry blossoms in the main hall. The trees are so thick that one person cannot hug them. They are like two dragons, covering the courtyard of the main hall. Every spring, the cherry blossoms in the hall are full of red, which complement the white pear blossoms around the temple, making the whole temple fragrant and beautiful. There is a wide lawn in front of the Puji Temple for tourists to rest and have fun. There is a pool of green spring on the southwest side of the temple, which flows all year round. The main hall of Puji Temple is particularly distinctive, which is built with whole pieces of copper tiles. Although it has lost its former glory, it still retains its extraordinary momentum.
A must-visit temple when visiting Putuo Mountain. The lotus pond outside the temple is very large and beautiful. The temple is quiet and solemn. There are big trees inside, which are said to be guardian gods. The cutest thing is that there are many squirrels on the trees, and they are not afraid of people. The incense here is very prosperous. I recommend a visit
We still have to go there, otherwise we can only walk around the beach. Go early so that we can eat vegetarian food. I read in the guide that it starts at 11:30, but when we got there it was already over. It turned out to start at 10:30 and end at 11:30. We completely missed it. Then we found a small alley and found a local to eat at her house. The taste was good and the price was not expensive. People in Zhoushan are very simple and don't ask for exorbitant prices. It feels pretty good.
Puji Temple is located in the middle of Putuo Mountain Scenic Area and is the most famous Buddhist temple in Putuo Mountain. There is a large pond for releasing animals at the entrance of Puji Temple, with a stone bridge in the middle. You need to buy a ticket for Puji Temple, which costs 10 yuan. Because there are so many people, you need to queue up to buy tickets to enter the temple. Puji Temple is very popular. The main hall is Tongbao Hall, with two layers of gold-plated eaves, which shows the luxury and grandeur of this temple. It is said that Puji Temple is particularly effective, and basically all tourists who come to Putuo Mountain will come here to burn incense.
The magnificent Lin Palace and Buddhist temples of the temple complement the beautiful scenery such as the lotus pond, Duobao Pagoda, octagonal pavilion and Yaochi Bridge in front of the temple, forming a colorful natural picture. It is a must-visit place for pilgrims who want to see the beautiful scenery.
The environment outside Puji Temple. The old man said that you can't take pictures inside the temple, so we didn't take pictures of the environment inside. TIPS: 1. There is a small shop outside the temple selling incense for worship, but generally a box of 100 sticks costs 99 yuan. My companion and I bought a box together. There is also a tube that costs about 100 yuan. Incense is more expensive, you should bring your own incense. 2. Some larger temples charge admission fees. The ticket for Puji Temple is 6 yuan. 3. There will be some local people outside the Puji Temple as tour guides, who will take you in to worship and teach you how to worship. It costs 50 yuan to hire one. I think this money must be spent because it saves a lot of unnecessary detours.
One of the three major temples in Putuo Mountain, looking at these halls, I couldn't help but follow the aunts and grandmothers in worshiping devoutly.
On the way to Puji Temple, because the ticket price for the tourist bus on the island was really unreasonable, we chose to walk there. It was only a 10-minute journey, and there were towering trees all along the way, which was very cool.
The incense burner in front of the Puji Temple is filled with smoke. The inscriptions on the wall in front of the temple are so grand, carrying the philosophy of Buddhism. It makes people feel awe. There are teams worshiping Buddha everywhere, and little monks everywhere.
This is the largest temple in Putuo Mountain. It is really popular! The incense is so popular! As soon as you approach Puji Temple, you will see smoke and mist everywhere. There is an endless stream of pilgrims. There is no place to put incense in the incense burner. You have to queue up to worship the Buddha.
There are several temples when you walk in, and you can burn incense and make wishes there. Different Bodhisattvas are enshrined, and the things you pray for are also different. If you want to pray sincerely, you need to understand the process clearly. If you just want to pray for the safety of your family, there are not so many details. As the saying goes, if you are sincere, the Bodhisattva will definitely hear your wish!
There are several bridges outside Puji Temple. I can't remember all their names, but I remember one bridge is called Shou Bridge. If you walk across it, you can live to 99 years old! There are water, books, pavilions and bridges outside Puji Temple. The scenery is very good! There are not as many people as in the temple, so you can choose to take pictures outside.
Puji Temple, also known as Qian Temple, is the oldest temple in Putuo Mountain and also the largest temple in Putuo Mountain. All major Buddhist activities are held here.
The lotus pond in front of Puji Temple was called "Haiyin Pond" in ancient times. It was originally a place for monks to release animals. Later, it was renamed Lotus Pond because of the planting of lotus. However, releasing animals at will is not allowed now.
