Wushitang

乌石塘

On the west and south banks of Zhangzhou Bay, east of Dadong'ao, the central town of Zhujiajian Island, lie two "black dragons"—the renowned "Wu Shi Li Tang." These are the renowned "Wu Shi Li Tang" (Black Stone Gravel Ponds). These ponds are renowned for their colorful, polished pebbles, ranging from small pearls to large goose eggs, rivaling the exquisitely crafted Yuhua Stones of Nanjing. The northern embankment, known as the "Big Wu Shi Tang," is over 500 meters long, nearly 100 meters wide, and approximately 5 meters high. The southern embankment, located at the southern foot of Zhujiajian Mountain, is 350 meters long, 100 meters wide, and approximately 3 meters high, known as the "Small Wu Shi Tang." These two horizontal seawalls, formed entirely of shiny black pebbles stacked naturally against the slope, are a magnificent sight. The scenic area also boasts a small water park with a variety of attractions, making it a perfect destination for family outings.

The Wushitang Scenic Area consists of two main sections. One is the rocky beach, which is not a sandy beach but rather a beach made up of many black, pebble-sized stones, hence the name Wushitang. This type of beach has a unique aesthetic. The other is the amusement park next to Wushitang, where various water entertainment projects give everyone a thrill and a great time.

By Solitary Traveler |

Wushitang, a unique wonder in Zhujiajian, Zhoushan, is a captivating sight. The beach, covered in black pebbles, shimmers in the sunlight, creating a striking contrast with the azure sea and sky. Stroll along, the pebbles massage your feet, the sound of waves mingling with laughter, and you'll truly enjoy the wondrous music of nature. The beauty of this place is even more breathtaking at night, with bonfires under the stars and fishermen singing to the moon, adding an infinitely romantic touch.

By Go out for a walk |

The beach is not a beach, but pebbles, which hurts barefoot. There is a water park next to it where you can play.

By zjulaisheng |

That's it, this is also a scenic spot. The sound of the tide hitting the rocks in the morning is very nice and crisp.

By silver |

Wushitang has been fenced off and turned into a park. It's essentially just round black rocks near the sea. There are signs everywhere saying you can't take anything from the black rocks. Otherwise, there's nothing special.

By Butterfly Bay |

The Wushitang Scenic Area features a unique Wushi Beach, composed of high-energy black stones polished over hundreds of millions of years. The surrounding area offers tranquil accommodations, some of which offer sunrise views, and a variety of recreational facilities, including sailing and kayaking. The Butterfly Bay Seaside Homestay is particularly unique, making it a great base for a family vacation.

By Xiao |

What a rubbish scenic spot. I walked so far just to see such a lousy view. I will never go there again.

By Baby Ox |

When I arrived at Wushitang from Nansha, it was already after get off work. I asked the surrounding villagers and found out that there was a small path leading to the back door. After searching for a long time, I finally found it and went in through the back door. There were still many people around Wushitang in the evening, and many children were playing with stones on the shore. Wushitang is full of black pebbles. When the tide is high and low, the small black stones will make a rustling sound, which is very nice. Walking barefoot on the pebbles is like a free foot massage. It hurts hahaha

By rukie Red Dust Actor |

We entered the scenic area at 5:30 PM, so we couldn't take the scenic boat tour. We could still enjoy the water expansion and relax. Wushitang should be free after 6 PM, as it's very popular! So my ticket was a bit wasted, but luckily there was a performance.

By ldzzss |

The main beach is the Black Stone Beach, which is becoming increasingly scarce, so please do not take it away. It is also a good place to watch the waves, and there are other areas in the courtyard where children can play.

By Peppa Pig George |

Wushitang is full of black pebbles, and the waves hitting the pebbles make a wonderful sound, but because it is too dirty and the wind and waves are too strong, we went back after staying there for less than five minutes.

By ICE |

It's a small park, but the main attraction is the water park, which only has the "Daredevil" props on the water, which isn't very interesting. Then there's Wushi Beach, where you can take a boat out. The free boat ride is only 5 minutes, but for 100 yuan, you can split the boat and go a little further, about 15 minutes, to explore the bay. The boat can also lift crab pots, but I guess the catch isn't that big.

By Jie-Zhongrui |

Xiaowushitang, the smallest fishing village closest to the sea!

By _ˋmeet_ァ |

The 80 yuan ticket for two people was wasted. It's just a pier at best.

By China-TravelNote users |

A not very good attraction. Don't go there during the day in the summer. You will get sunburned! The 40 yuan ticket is not worth it at all. The boat ride is a scam. It costs 130 yuan to put a cage to catch crabs. If you don't catch any, you will be back on the boat immediately. It's a very bad attraction!

By ylwfz |

Overall, it's okay, but it's quite small. The boat ride is a few minutes' walk from the entrance, and the boat ride is up a cobblestone slope, which is quite nice. There's a small playground next to it, divided into adult and children's areas. The boat ride is included in the ticket price, which is just a short stroll and takes about three minutes round trip. Once on the boat, you'll be introduced to two fees: one is a 130 yuan crab pot, which is pre-set and not very cost-effective. The other is a boat trip, which costs 100 yuan for ten people.

By Cape of Good Hope |

The Wushitang Scenic Area is formed by the natural slope of shiny black pebbles washed by the sea, which is magnificent and spectacular.

By wins |

Large black pebbles are rarely seen in coastal cities in China.

By Zhoushan MiTu |

The sea water in Wushitang is still OK, because the seaside is made of soft rocks, so the sea water is relatively blue, and there is also a small water park in the scenic spot.

By Tea polyphenols |

Wushitan is a wharf that is still in use today. Every day, boats of all sizes come in from far away to bring back fish.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to call it a scenic spot, but it's a good place to just chill out.

By none |

To be honest, I don’t think Wushitang is that beautiful. It’s just a small piece of sea with black stones all over the shore.

By People-oriented life |

From there, you can see the famous Wushitang. The spot we visited is called Wushi Rock. It's made up of many large rocks. We had a blast catching crabs and couldn't help but take lots of photos of the people and the beautiful scenery. I imagine this spot will be developed into a tourist attraction in the near future. We also spotted many people sea fishing here. Spending a day in such a beautiful spot is like forgetting all your worries. We continued along the Ring Road and arrived at the first viewing platform in the middle. There were many people taking photos. Parking was scarce, and with so much traffic, there was nowhere to park. Due to weather conditions, the blue sky and white clouds disappeared after we reached the viewing platform. While the views were open, the photos weren't as impressive. The Ring Road is also a cycling route, but I'm afraid I'd collapse on such a steep path. I think a stroll along the Ring Road after dinner is truly a beautiful experience. We saw many tourists stopping and walking along the way. After driving past the viewing platform, we continued on to Xiaowushitang, a free beach named after the black rocks on it. Xiaowushitang is just as good as Dawushitang, and importantly, it's free. There were a lot of cars parked on the road around the island, and the waters of Xiaowushitang were the clearest and bluest I'd been near on this trip.

Maybe my photography skills are limited, but the water at Xiaowushitang is truly blue, haha. There are a lot of B&Bs outside Xiaowushitang, and they're all booked out for National Day. There's also a seafood restaurant, but this is the closest B&B to the beach. There's an old woman at the entrance who looks after the black stones. If anyone takes any out of Xiaowushitang, she'll tell you to return them, haha. Don't steal. My wife's photos of Xiaowushitang are the most romantic. This is a leisure spot outside Xiaowushitang. It's a bit old, and it was used for a TV series, but it's a nice place to relax. Leaving Xiaowushitang and driving along the island ring road leads to the beach.

By star13 |

There are relatively few buses to the scenic area. We took the Zhuyi Line to the Buddhist College and walked in. The road is a bit long. The scenic area has its own characteristics. The seaside is full of black stones. With the ticket, you can also take a fishing boat out to sea. There is also a play area in the scenic area, which is divided into adult area and children's area. There are also management personnel, who are very responsible and will remind you in time when there is danger. It is a great experience to play in Wushitang!

By A person as quiet as a chrysanthemum |

From the fishing house in Zhujiajian, the owner drove us there. There were some facilities for children to play, and they could catch loaches. The children had a lot of fun. The tired children lay down on the small rocks by the sea and watched the sunset. The afterglow spread out, it was beautiful.

By FuckYeahFloyd |

Just a rocky beach and a five-minute boat ride, and they dare to charge 40?!

By juumii_Zhao Minmin |

The weather was cooler when I went there, so I didn't go into the water much, but I still had a lot of fun. Share a few pictures

By When there is blue sky, I want to go outside |

The biggest feature is the pebbles. There is nothing interesting else. It is a very small attraction.

By Sleepless Night |

It's really boring. You can't bring dogs to the beach. You're shocked. We came all the way here and left when we got there.

By Yue丶 |

The ground is covered with large black pebbles, which are very comfortable to walk on. You can take pictures when the waves come up, and lie on the beach to bask in the sun when the weather is good. The tide comes in suddenly, so be careful with your shoes, bags, skirts, and mobile phones (don’t ask me why, this is a reminder for a fool who was hit by the waves)

By It's Ling, not Ling |

It's suitable for a family to go with children. I feel the scenery is average.

By Orange Jun~ |

There is no entrance fee at around 6pm, but the gate is closed. You have to go in through the staff and villagers' passage next to it. There are many B&Bs near Wushitang, and the environment is good. Wushitang is a place suitable for evening walks and morning jogging. The air is very good.

By づ洂 Salmon Salmon り~ |

Beautiful, fun, it feels great to step on the stones, recommended

By Smart Su Bai |

On the third day, I went to Wushitang. I had been studying in Zhoushan for four years and had never been there once. As expected, I didn't find it very amazing this time.

However, Zhoushan in May is extremely cold.

The sea breeze blew up my white shirt. From behind, I looked like I weighed 200 pounds. Hahahahaha.

By Qingyun Yixiao |

Wushitang is famous for its pebbles, most of which are black. The waves crashing against the black stones create a crisp, rustling sound, reminiscent of the celestial sound of Buddhist chanting, a truly heartwarming experience. Currently, the area also serves as a yacht mooring. With numerous B&Bs, resorts, and restaurants nearby, it's expected to become a high-end leisure destination in the future.

By Autumn Shadow |

The beach is nice, and many of the pebbles on the seashore are black, so it is called Wu Shi Beach.

By Han Fei Home |

In fact, whether it is the big or small Wushitang, there are black pebbles everywhere, as the name suggests.

By Penny |

It's all beautiful pebbles. Although the place is not big, you still need to pay an entrance fee. We went there before 7 o'clock in the morning and there was no entrance fee. The photos we took are still used as profile pictures. It's still very romantic when I think about it.

There are also some entertainment facilities inside, such as playing on the water bridge.

By Nebula Inn |

I don't know how the black pebbles were formed, but a beach covered with black stones still presents a completely different temperament from the common beaches in the past. I went there twice in the afternoon, sitting on the stone beach, listening to the waves, wishing to return to fishing, a quiet picture of the Jiangnan seaside

By Aero Zeppelin |

A beach of dark pebbles is a perfect place to listen to the tide. When the waves recede, the water laps over the rocks, and the pebbles collide with each other, creating a unique sound, like the gentle clatter of crabs. When the waves recede, there's a distinct whistle of wind, perhaps the sound of air rushing into the cracks between the rocks. Trekking barefoot in the shallows is also fascinating. When the waves come in, rocks might fly up and hit your shins, and when they recede, the stone bed beneath your feet feels like a slippery slope. Those pebbles, accustomed to the involuntary ups and downs of time, have been worn down to their natural edges.

By 🐱Make money to support Tangtang & Yanyan🐱 |

Come after 5:30, free entry, 40 tickets are slightly more expensive

By Walking |

Not bad, quite meaningful, the pebbles are very unique

By Afterglow |

What stands out about Wushitang is the sunset, the rising tide, and the sound of pebbles colliding. I suggest you go there at night after the staff get off work, haha.

By Little Bee |

It is a small beach. The beach is not made of fine sand, but round stones, so it is called Wushitang.

By MsRudy |

Wushitang is divided into Xiaowushitang and Dawushitang. It is recommended to go there if you are traveling by car. If you are not traveling by car, the transportation will be a bit troublesome. The scenery depends on personal preference. There are only two stone ponds.

By Lone Crane |

At Wushitang, I took my granddaughter on a boat trip to catch small fish and shrimp. The 130 yuan per trip was too expensive, so I joined a tourist's child from Dinghai and split the 65 yuan. The fishermen put the small fish and shrimp in a net, lowered it into the sea, and then had the children pull it up.

By Montage |

I recommend visiting during the free evening hours (I went after 6 PM, when no one was checking tickets, so I don't know the exact opening time). If it cost 35 yuan, you'd definitely be mad at me. But it's still pretty good for free. However, I personally feel the pebbles at Wushitang aren't entirely natural. The mountains of Zhangzhou Bay are shrouded in mist, which is quite magical.

By Miss Screw wants to sleep |

They are all black stones. I went out to sea to catch crabs, and they tasted great.

By Fighting monsters |

Don't go during the day. The entrance fee goes off duty around 4 or 5 pm?! Then it becomes a free scenic spot. Even though it's free, I was still disappointed. It's just a small park like your own. (Photography experts, please ignore me. You all are very good at turning things into something magical.)

By @_Axk_@ |

I went to see it at night because I was short on time. The scenery was average.

By Sea breeze boat |

Wushitang is a unique beach on Zhujiajian, made entirely of black pebbles, a rare sight elsewhere. There are actually two Wushitang locations: one near the Buddhist Academy, which charges 35 yuan for admission and features some outdoor activities and boat trips. The other, a smaller, free beach not far from Dongsha, is connected by a ring road around the island.

By Jojo |

It's a rip off, it's a rip off, it's important to say it three times

By Yu Xinfly |

Many years ago, I visited here with a tour group when I went to Zhoushan. The beach was full of black pebbles, and the sea water rose and fell, hitting these pebbles, making crisp crashing sounds. It was a very pleasant thing to come here in the morning, sit on the black stones, listen to the sound of the waves, and watch the sunrise slowly rising from the distance.

By Diaspora |

Wushitang is a cobblestone beach with many boats in the harbor. It is a good place for taking photos. The fisherman's house next to it is also delicious. If you have other plans, you can go there.

By hpjs |

Wushitang is famous for its pebbles, which are colorful, smooth, and lovely, ranging from small pearls to large goose eggs, comparable to Nanjing's Yuhua Stone. Da Wushitang is located on the west bank of Zhangzhou Bay, between Shuita Rock at the southern foot of Dapinggang and Miaogentou Xiaojiaozuitou.

By Fat Dinger |

There is no sand on the beach, all black pebbles, and the ticket price is 40 yuan, which is a bit expensive.

A scenic spot in Zhujiajian, Zhoushan. The beach is very special, all black stones. Children will have a lot of fun there.

By A person as quiet as a chrysanthemum |

Big and Small Wushitang: On the west and south banks of Zhangzhou Bay, east of Dadong'ao, the central town of Zhujiajian Island, lie two "black dragons"—the famous "Wushi Gravel Ponds." The northern one, over 500 meters long, nearly 100 meters wide, and about 5 meters high, is commonly known as the Big Wushitang. The southern one, located at the southern foot of Zhujiajian Mountain, is 350 meters long, 100 meters wide, and about 3 meters high, known as the Small Wushitang. These two horizontal seawalls, formed entirely of shiny black pebbles naturally stacked against the slope, are a magnificent sight. Visitors can lie on the cool, smooth gravel, gaze at the bright moon, and listen to the murmur of the tide, feeling lost in thought and transported to a dreamlike world. This scene is known as the "Wutang Tide Sound." After enjoying yourself, sit quietly on the pebbles, watching the white clouds drift by, the green mountains drift by, the crashing waves, and the bustling fishing boats in the distance. Let go of everything, gaze at the boundless ocean, lost in thought. We watched the marshmallows drifting overhead, constantly changing, the masts of ships moving back and forth. The whistles blew until the waves rose slowly, reaching our feet. We shouted excitedly, then pushed a little higher, waiting for the waves to slowly invade our territory again, until dark fell.

By Monkey.Dl |

It's boring, not much, just a pile of stones. Maybe the artistic youth have different feelings. There is a boat ride, but it rained so I didn't go. Also, it seems to be facing east, so you can watch the sunrise, which is really good.

By clonedna |

Very nice place ~ Stone is one of its main features ~

By Why not gain weight? |

The shore is paved with black pebbles, with barely a single rock. Locals say they are the product of a black sea dragon, meant to protect the area. The area isn't large, but there are fishing boats that will take you out to sea to fish for crab pots and experience the thrill of being out at sea. The trip isn't very far, and it only takes about 10 minutes.

By From Assassin City |

The water park was closed when I went there. Going out to sea to retrieve crab cages and seeing Turtle Mountain cost 230 in total. I only caught a dozen small crabs. I suspected that the small crabs had been put in the cages a long time ago. The scenery was average, and the most important thing was that the ticket cost 40, which was really a rip-off.

By Jing Xiao |

Wushitang is not very big. We stayed near it and there is no entrance fee after 5pm. It is nice to go to the beach and sit there!

By Cat chasing its tail |

It's quite emotional to take pictures and watch the sunrise and sunset

By Mr. Ni |

It's just so-so, but walking barefoot requires courage.

By melody ^艒^ |

The staff at the boat station were too rude. The scenery was average, just a pile of black rocks. I won't go there again.

By Passerby |

The sea water is clear and the pebble foot massage is quite good

By King Arthur |

I went there once two years ago. The whole beach was made of dark stones, which was very distinctive and unforgettable.

By The second girl |

Wushitang is located in the Wushitang Scenic Area in Zhujiajian. It's named for its black pebbles on the beach. While the beach is small, the scenic area is larger, with a water park and barbecue facilities. Locals love to barbecue at Wushitang. Sit on the embankment, grill meat or seafood, sip beer, and watch the tides rise and fall below. Afterward, enjoy the various rides at the water park, making it a great place for a family outing.

By Soaring Tree |

I love being able to see the blue sea. "Facing the sea, spring flowers bloom." If I could face such a beautiful view every day, the flowers in my heart would bloom every day! !!o(∩_∩)o Haha

By Canglang Water |

There's really not much to do at Wushitang, and the 40 yuan entrance fee feels like a rip-off. Pulling out the crab pots is a bit fun, but that's a separate fee. There's also a smaller Wushitang, which is just like Wushitang, with a beach full of black rocks, but it's free. I recommend checking out the smaller Wushitang.

By Angle |

It's nice to sit on the black stone, listen to the waves hitting the shore, and watch the sunset.

By Captain |

The place is not big, the pebble beach is very nice, and the sound of the waves hitting the pebbles is very pleasant. You can take a boat trip there, and the price is negotiable, it is not particularly expensive. The ride takes about 15 minutes, and you can go further for an additional fee.

By Yun_Ask |

Although the scenery is nothing special, it is all black cobblestone beach, but there is a net of crabs there and they are boiled in the sea water and eaten. It is still very delicious.

By shf897 |

The scenic spot is a bit tasteless, it's ok to take pictures and have children play

By Maruko-chan in internship |

Wushitang is a bay, its shoreline paved with pebbles instead of fine sand, which you can't take away. The water is much clearer because of the lack of fine sand. Admission is 40 yuan per person, with students paying half price. You can also use your ticket to take a free boat ride in the harbor, effectively going out to sea. You can also charter a boat for 100 yuan per boat, allowing you to explore the water without having to drive yourself. There are also many water activities to enjoy.
