Introducing Pingshan Village

Pingshan Village is located at the foot of Pingfeng Mountain and Jiyang Mountain, approximately 4 kilometers northeast of Yi County, Huangshan City. It is a typical Jiangnan water village. Jiyang Creek meanders through the village, and the sound of village women hammering their scales on both sides of the river echoes from time to time, splashing white water from the scales. Houses and temples with blue bricks and gray tiles, as well as shops with front-of-house and back-of-house layouts, flank the banks. More than ten distinctive stone bridges span the creek, creating the unique charm of Jiangnan water villages characterized by small bridges, flowing water, and homes.

Pingshan, a thousand-year-old village, gets its name from the screen-like mountain to its north. Qing Dynasty poet Yu Fengchen, while visiting Pingshan, wrote: "Green mountains resemble a painted screen, dripping with emerald green after the rain. Autumn leaves and spring flowers, scattered like brocade."

At Gongjialing, between Pingfeng Mountain and Lianqing Mountain, a small stream flows out. It is crystal clear and flows through Pingshan Village and merges into the Zhang River from the south of Yicheng at Guxi. This stream is named Jiyang Creek because it is located at the foot of Jiyang Mountain. It is also called Jishui and is one of the sources of Xin'an River. Jiyang Creek flows through the village. The banks are lined with white walls and black tiles, and there are houses everywhere. There are ten bridges every three miles, making transportation convenient.
