You County was established during the Qin Dynasty. In the 13th year of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the name was changed to Yishan, coinciding with the ancient name of Huangshan. It is now part of Huangshan City. If you enter the Taoyuan Ancient Cave in spring and walk upstream along the Hengjiang River (the upper reaches of the Xin'an River), you will indeed see fields covered in peach blossoms, and the Yixian Basin is nestled amidst the blossoms. Archaeologists have reportedly discovered a "Tao Family Genealogy" in Chiling Village, home to the Tao clan of Yixian County. According to this genealogy, Tao Yuanming is the third-generation ancestor. All this evidence suggests that the origin of the Peach Blossom Spring may lie in the beautiful land of Yixian County. Yi County is also one of the important birthplaces of Hui culture. Because the cultural heritage in the area has been less affected by historical and political changes, there are as many as 3,600 well-preserved ancient houses scattered among the mountains of Yi County, like precious jade buried deep in the soil.
