Miaodaoshan National Forest Park, located in the southwest of Yuexi County, Anhui Province, covers a total area of 3,000 hectares and comprises five major scenic areas: Juyun Peak, Zushi Peak, Ziliu Garden, Nanxiyuan, and Longmen Canyon. The scenic area is filled with overlapping peaks, vast forests, and boundless scenery.
Since the founding of the Linji Dojo by the Southern School of Buddhism 1,200 years ago, and the construction of the Jinbi Temple by Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty, Miaodao Mountain has been renowned as one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Its rich Buddhist culture, the miraculous light of the Miaodao Buddha, and its beautiful scenery have attracted countless pilgrims and tourists from home and abroad.
The unique landscapes here, such as the Stone Lion Howling at the Moon, the Stone Breaking the Sky, the Natural Stone Mirror, the Immortal's Rest, the Wonderful Brushstrokes, and the Ancient Master Cave, are breathtaking. The stunning waterfalls, such as the Crystal Curtain After the Rain, the Nine-Bend Flying Green, the Cascading Silver Waterfall, the Dragon Gate Waterfall, the Jade Cup Pond, and the Black Dragon Pond, are also spectacular.
Large areas of well-preserved natural secondary forests are also abundant, boasting a rich flora and fauna. Rare plant species include over 60 , including tulip trees, fragrant fruit trees, blue fruit trees, ginkgo trees, and Dabie Mountain five-needle pine trees. Rare animals include over 20 , including giant salamanders, leopards, musk deer, white-crowned pheasants, and small civets . The area is known as the " Dabie Mountains' natural gene bank . " The thousand-year-old purple willows, growing in the swamplands high on the mountaintops, are so diverse and rare that they are considered " unique in China . "
